Ovo charge app not adding my Evec charger

Hi all,

I’ve had my EV and charger for 4 months, charger has been connected via the OVO charge app since using. Yesterday evening (14th Jan) I tried to charge but the OVO charge app just kept displaying ‘Connecting to your EV charger’. I have had this temporarily before and unlinking the charger from the app and reinstalling it usually fixes the issue. Last night however it would not work at all. I tried unlinking, deleting both apps and reinstalling those, nothing worked to get them to link, I ended up having to bypass OVO Charge as I needed the car today. This evening again now (15 Jan), it still won’t connect my charger to the OVO charge app. Has anyone else had this?

Apologies for the late reply but happy to report that the app and charger have been rock solid since it reappeared on the app.

I only tend to charge around once a week and previously the app would lose connection to the charger between charges necessitating a removal, reboot and re-add which was obviously very annoying.

Since the update I've not had to do this once so we'll done Evec and OVO 😁

Thanks both

I did try uninstalling and re-installing the app last night but it made no difference.

Spoke to OVO just now and apparently Evec chargers have been removed from the app temporarily while Evec sort out some issues.

There's no timescale on this.

Obviously I'm annoyed at this for a number of reasons...this hasn't been communicated to Evec users, Evec is still on the list of supported chargers, I can't use the charge anytime monthly plan I've signed up for, I can't change supplier to get a cheaper charging rate with paying exit fees etc

Hey @Dw1973,

That sounds incredibly frustrating, and I completely understand how disappointing this situation must be for you. From what I've gathered, there were issues discovered affecting new and existing customers, which is why it has been temporarily removed. This decision was made to prevent further complications for users who might encounter errors while trying to navigate a broken journey. I know it's not easy to wait, and we don’t have a specific timeline for when the journey will be reintroduced to Charge Anytime; it really hinges on EVEC resolving those issues. I spoke with the Charge Anytime team, and they are currently in a holding pattern as well. However, they recommended that you reach out to them again. They’re eager to discuss your options and see how they can best support you during this time.

Thanks again @Chris_OVO

To be fair, the Charge Anywhere team have called back and agreed to waive the fee if I decide to change supplier and also refund my monthly subscription for the previous month.

I’ll be reaching out to evec to try and get an update on timescales for resolution as obviously there’s nothing OVO can do to resolve the issue.

Hey @Dw1973,

I totally understand where you're coming from and thought this might be the case on Charge Anytime's end. Sometimes these situations pop up, and if there’s no clear way forward, it's really not worth the stress. We absolutely love having you as a customer, but your best interests come first!

When it comes to EV charging, it might be worth looking into other suppliers to get the most out of your setup. I really hope EVEC can sort out the issues they’re currently facing. But if you do decide to switch, don’t worry—you’re always welcome here! We've got a friendly community with members from all suppliers who are ready to lend a hand.

@Adrian1009 welcome to the OVO Forum. I’m sorry to hear that this same issue is affecting you as well.

I’ve spoken to Charge Anytime this morning, and they’ve confirmed that EVEC has still been removed from OVO Charge, due to unreliability issues. Charge Anytime are working alongside EVEC to get everything fixed, and they hope this will be done in the very near future.

In the meantime, please contact Charge Anytime. They’ll ensure that you’re reimbursed any lose Charge Anytime credits. You can find their contact details here:

Just to let you know @Adrian1009 I’ve updated your profile with the EV badge, so that other members can recognise the kit you have.

Bit of potential good news for affected folks.

EVEC and the Charge Anytime team have been keeping me informed with progress updates. They’re absolutely still working on this and the plan is to definitely fire up the integration again soon - EVEC still wants to be part of Charge Anytime so this is really just a speedbump more than anything else.

Word on the street is that it might be back online before the end of April but I can’t make any promises just yet. Keep an eye on the Forum - no doubt there’ll be an announcement once the on switch is flipped again.

@Adrian1009 thanks very much for this helpful update - it’d be great if this is fixed by the end of the week.

Checked this morning and Evec has re-appeared on the App.

Have re-added my charger and it is currently showing as ‘Connection lost’ but notes says this may be the case for up to 30 mins after adding.
