We're opening up Power Move to all eligible OVO customers

Updated on 14/08/23 by Tim_OVO:

We’ve gone public with Power Move

Following the success of the Power Move trial that ended in March, we’ve been working on making the concept something that all our eligible OVO customers can take part in.

Power Move is currently available to all smart customers.

We’re going to keep this OVO Forum group as the home of Power Move questions and discussions. We’ll be removing any posts that relate to the trial specifically, to avoid any confusion. We’ll also do some organising of the remaining posts to help categorise the discussion based on key themes. This will help new Power Move customers find relevant discussions when it becomes available.

If you don’t want to be part of the Power Move OVO Forum group or any of its discussions, you’re able to ‘unsubscribe from group notifications’ or ‘leave the group’, via the buttons on the group homepage

Yeah, does seem a lot of work for little compensation now. If you're a low user it's very hard work to keep usage in the window below the required level. Not yet sure it's worth the effort for a tenner.

The £20 month (66p per day) wasn't an incentive to try, what makes you think half that will insensitve anyone to bother?

Tim@ovo Do you know yet if the electricity prices (unit rate and standing charge) for Power Move customers will be the same, or better :) ,  than the best other OVO tariff? If so, then for me it would be worth it - If i reach target in a month I really will be saving £10, and if I dont meet it I haven't lost anything.  If the tariff is going to be more expensive then I’m not so sure if it is worth the risk.  (Regardless of tariff or incentive I am always energy conscious and so am a low user - and I don't want to be penalised for that)

Hey @decroisic ,

I can say this much at least. During the trial, everyone got to keep their existing tariff rates, so if you didn’t meet the target you didn’t lose anything - you just didn’t get the reward.

Personally, I can’t see that rule changing anytime soon.

Hiya @Blastoise186  - that sounds promising :)

Given all the comments and feedback during the trial, it doesn’t sound like anything has been taken on board which is a shame. Reduced incentive to do it and still flawed maths in that those who use MORE power outside 4-7 will hit the target and think they’re doing well (when in fact they’re just using more energy overall and paying a bigger bill).

Here’s a thought, why not use the old economy 7 logic? Customer signs up to the scheme and gets a discounted rate outside 4-7 and an increased rate between 4-7. And we’re done.

It’s an interesting idea, @Tork. Incredibly simple but seemingly affective. I’ll ask the team if there’s any reason the scheme isn’t set up this way and get back to you. :)
