Kia EV and OVO Charge Anytime - when will this be eligible for direct to vehicle (D2V)?

I had a Easee charger fitted as recommended by my electrician last year. I am due to take delivery of my Kia EV shortly. I am also a OVO energy customer.

Bizarrely I seem unable to take advantage of the anytime + tariff as i have neither a compatible charger or car. How can this be the case? Has it now come to the point where you choose the car and charger based on an available electricity tariff?! Com on OVO get Kia on board ASAP.

There are now two ways you can get Charge Anytime:

You must have an eligible EV or Smart Charger, we’re constantly looking into ways to broaden eligibility of this product so if your technology isn’t currently on this list keep an eye on our page for updates!

Thanks for the feedback, @philipgh @Tom Salmon. I appreciate this.

From my understanding, adding additional electric vehicles via direct to vehicle, and additional charges, means working with those companies and their technology to unlock Charge Anytime. As a result it’s very difficult to provide insight on time frames. I’m told that OVO are really keen to unlock Charge Anytime with any many partners as possible as fast as possible.

Have you considered asking Kia?

Thanks. Still doesn’t give a date.

My biggest issue is that I was completely lied to by the agent when I asked if I was eligible. Their exact words were ‘email the charge anytime team and they can make it work in the background’. I would not have switched to OVO and paid a termination fee had I been correctly advised. I’ve been offered a small credit on my bill but that doesn’t cover the fact that now my EV charging is three times what it should have been. I could have also stayed with my previous provider and switched to off peak electricity instead. Slightly more than charge anytime and only off peak, but still 1/3 cheaper than my current rates. Unfortunately that is a min contract too. So I am stuck with expensive charging ‘waiting’ for it to be available. I also only chose to get Hypervolt as Love Electric were offering 5000 miles of free charging!

OVO need to train their staff better.

Hey @mrmahiho,

It sounds like they are doing a final round of testing to make sure everything works as expected before announcing a go live date! Hopefully we get more information soon as to when this will be.

I’m sorry to hear this. I’d suggest speaking with our Support Team to see if they could look into this further for you. As we don’t have account access here it means that we’re limited in the support that we can offer.

You can find our Complaint Handling Statement here, https://bit.ly/3DcsZdj, along with more information on our complaints process here: https://www.ovoenergy.com/feedback.

Hey.

I got this just now.

Hypervolt is not currently eligible for our service, but it will be included in a beta trial for the public next week. This means you can connect to Charge Anytime using your Hypervolt, but there may be some issues. Please report any problems you encounter so that we can address them.

but no mention of how to actually do it 😂 I take the positive though, next week is a more granular date than ‘coming soon’

latest from Ovo team,

Starting from 11/06/2024, you will have the option to select Hypervolt during the signup process. Since this is part of a beta trial, you can connect it through the Charge Anytime app.

Once you download the Charge Anytime app and follow the instructions, you will be able to connect to the Hypervolt.

Hi @mrmahiho,

It’s good to hear that you should be able to connect your Hypervolt charger starting from tomorrow.

Please let us know if you have any issues doing this.

@Shads_OVO logged on today to sign up. Still no Hypervolt option. 🙈 any idea why it’s not there?

Hi @mrmahiho

I’m sorry to hear this. It’s likely that was the case as it was still before 9am when you tried. Have you tried again since then?

This thread might also help as it was also posted today:

I tried it a few times post 9am with no luck. But tried again and it was working. I have managed to get connected and will try connecting my car later.

fingers crossed the trial works well! I appreciate that it might not as that is why you do trials!

That’s great to hear @mrmahiho.

Please keep us updated on how it all goes. It may be useful for any other forum users going through the same process.

Hi.  I have a Kia Niro, an Easee One charger and the Charge Anytime app.  When I have tried connecting the car ready for smart charging, it shows on the Easee app as charging straight away, and not limited by the Charge Anytime app.  I wasn’t sure if the Charge Anytime app had registered that the car was connected - until I tried the urgent charge feature, and then it started charging.   I don’t have an off peak rate, but if I set the Easee charger to start at its off-peak setting of 10pm, will that then wake up the Charge Anytime app and will it then do its smart charging?  Grateful for any advice/information/suggestions.  Thank you.
