Why was I charged exit fees when moving house?

Why have I been charged exit fees (£150) when I am moving out of my house to a new house which already has an energy supply?

Sorry to hear about this, though I’m glad to see one of our community members have already stopped by with some helpful advice.

 

As Costeek has suggested, you shouldn’t pay exit fees if you move house. 

 

I’d definitely recommend getting in touch with the Support Team if you’ve not done so already, so they can rectify this. You can find a little more info about it on this article here, or our Forum guide below:

Usually you don’t pay exit fee when moving house. Have you informed OVO in advance? There is a particular procedure for that. Though you don’t have to inform them in advance, that makes things smoother. It’s also should be written in the terms and conditions of your tariff. What says yours? Also, at your new address, have you informed the supplier of that place about you moving in? Technically that would be enough for OVO to know that you moved out. 
In any case, I would strongly recommend to contact OVO’s Customer Service.

Thanks for your reply.

T & C's says no fees for moving house. I informed OVO in advance of move via links in their website in my account. For clarification, my new home already has supplier and bill payer which will not be changing, so I will not be obtaining a new supplier. Customer Service contact time.
