I've just switched to OVO and was told that we could have a smart meter installed, but since then I haven't heard anything further. I am concerned because our meter isn't in our flat, it is in a communal cupboard to which I don't have access. I'm worried I won't be able to read the meter regularly if we can't get a smart meter. Has anyone had experience of this?

AltHAN is currently suspended right now while some important fixes are being developed. However, there’s still a chance that Dual-Band Comms Hubs might work. Have a word with OVO Support next week and they can potentially explore that for you.


@Blastoise186  so my smart meter was installed in 2022, according to chatgpt , that should mean its smets2 cause any installed after 2019 would be that? If that’s the case then it should mean i already have a dual band comms hub, meaning could i just ask for a free pre-configured in-home display to be sent to me and it would work out of the box?


I’d need to see photos of the meter to confirm what you’ve got. Not all S2 Meters are set up with Dual-Band Comms Hubs (it’s not done by default!) and no amount of ChatGPT can replace the skill of this Blastoise. :)
