My Solis Cloud App not displaying all data? Is my energy being detected correctly?

Hi, hope that you can help.

We had solar panels fitted yesterday with a battery.

i downloaded and setup the solis cloud app. This shows when the battery is charging or discharging but does not show any love input from the panels or the grid. Though in the case of the grid it shows an overall input amount. Do I need to play with the settings? Or have the sensors not been correctly set up?

TIA.

Hi @Cope as I’ve mentioned earlier on this thread, it seems a common problem with the clamps which measure the current flow to be installed the wrong way around (they are ‘direction’ sensitive) and so this might be the cause. They look something like this near your meter and there should be two

There’s an arrow on the side which is difficult to see but generally should point towards the meter.

Dear Luciannae,

I raised the matter with my battery installers and they came and had another look at the installation and fixed the problem. I think it was a matter of some sensors having been installed the wrong way round.

Best Wishes,

Stephen

My installation was on 17th July, 3 weeks ago, and I only seen a normal day of operation on the 18th, after that something went wrong, basically my house is using most of the time what the PV is producing which is wrong as I don't have this usage (I know my house) + my battery is not stepping in after the PV stopped producing (night time), also the graphs stoped showing any usage night time as you can see in the other days + the battery was deciding to charge from the grid let's say around 8pm when I set the schedule to be charging after midnight.

Solis replied and waiting to see how can they help as my installer is  useless, to him looks normal 😡.

That’s one thing that is all too common unfortunately. Some installers are not up to speed on requirements, especially when the system has to interact with the existing mains power

@luciannae what rating is your PV and inverter?

As I mentioned earlier in this thread, these charts can be complex but they do basically look like things are operating ok but your system may have some settings which you might not realise are set

If you look at your first graph ..

The battery is at near full charge until around 9am and then goes into discharge/feeding into home until around 12. From there the PV is still exporting until just before 6pm when the battery is charging, reaching full power around 8pm

Looking at 18th

There are things running ‘overnight’ (early morning and from 9pm onwards) which is being fed from the grid as the batteries are low (20%?) until the PV kicks in to charge batteries and feed the home around 6am. The batteries then go into another discharge cycle around 12 and they’re down until around 3pm when they begin to charge again. The evening power from 9ish takes battery power but there’s not a lot there and so again the grid is used to supply whatever load in on

If there are loads overnight on 31st and 5th which are not showing, there may be an issue with that and as I’ve mentioned earlier, there was a firmware update recently which corrected readings and something where the inverter wasn't recording overnight.

@BPLightlog@BPLightlog

Not sure what you mean by "rating", I have a 6kwp PV capacity, 10 kw battery Pytes 48100r and a Solis 6kw inverter, if that's what the question was about?

Solis just done an firmware update, adjusted some settings and advised to monitor for the next 48h 🤞.

What I was saying, is that I understand the graph from 18th and it is normal that the battery being discharged over night as I was charging my EV, but on the other graphs this is not happening anymore. So technically after PV stops producing I am going straight to grid import (which is not shown as well) as the battery just sits at 100% without discharging.

So I am hoping for the best after Solis update.

Hi, yes I was just trying to match the PV capacity together with inverter control and battery.
As I mentioned, someone else had problems with overnight readings so hopefully the new firmware will sort it for you.
If you get chance, let us know how you get on

So after almost 24h since firmware update and some adjustment by Solis support, unfortunately thers no change. I am still not showing any export, all the PV generated is showing used by the house (I am not using thatich energy), the battery doesn't supply the house once the PV stops generating.

This morning I went to check the inverter, and run a test: the PV was generating around 2kwh so I turned on my electric hob (all 4 knobs) + kettle + microwave for about 15 seconds, the inverter display didn't changed at all! Shouldn't this be almost instant showed on the display?

I mean at such a big energy usage, it should have shown a spike either from the grid or the battery, but nothing! After a few minutes, it was showing that is charging the battery.... This is shown on the graph as well.

Did the firmware made it slower?

Tomorrow will get back to Solis with the update, and still have no clue what the issue might be!

If you don’t get anything further here, there are users over in the DIY solar forum who may have more info

Hey @luciannae

I’m glad to see one of our fantastic volunteers, BPLightlog has already stopped by to offer some advice.

Sorry to hear that update from Solis hasn’t helped, keep us updated here with what they have to say.
