my Mitsubishi Ecodan Remote Control box went blank after I knocked it on the floor (yes, I’m old, stupid, and clumsy). I DO NOT LIKE the Ecodan User Interface so tried to get alternative - was told it could not be done, so ended up with quote for £675+vat for the sale & commissioning of a new Mitsubishi Ecodan Remote Control box. strikes me as a bit high. Comments?

It does sound a lot of money for this replacement remote control box. However, this is a specialist piece of kit and hence the price tag. May be worth looking around and also looking at if your current unit could be repaired for less cost. It may be people on the forum who have something like this will comment and perhaps know of a repairer or cheaper supplier.

Hi @Ph1l

Unfortunately we all have accidents from time to time so it’s just a question of how we resolve this. The price for the purchase and commissioning seems excessive but is there a possibility of buying a cheaper one and either commissioning it yourself or getting a heat pump engineer to do that for you. Out of complete ignorance I’ve found this on Ebay and I have no idea if it’s the right part but I’ll post the link on here to see if I’m anywhere near the right ballpark.

If it is then you can get them for a lower price and commissioning usually requires you to pair the controller with the heat pump and your manual might tell you how to do that. My Vaillant boiler tells me how to pair to a remote thermostat so I’m thinking this is possible by the owner. At least in principle.

Let me know if I’m anywhere near with this, or if I’m not, do you have a part number for the controller.

Peter

Do you have accidental damage on your house insurance?

@Peter E unfortunately your link was edited by the new “moderator” system!!

@Ph1l I've been moderated but if you do a search for ‘mitsubishi ecodan remote control ebay’ then you will find a number of these for sale on a site that rhymes with TeeDay and as a BONUS if you look on YouTube (rhymes with NewCube if that gets moderated) for ‘mitsubishi ecodan wireless setup tutorial’ then it will show you how to set it up.

Now, you might want to get a heating engineer to pair the controller and the same person may be able to source the right part at a much more reasonable price than what you have been quoted.

Hope that goes well.

Peter

As for the auto-moderater if this is the game we're going to play then I accept the challenge!

You’re exempt from AutoMod if you’ve got Super User rights - I suspect this was a manual action.

It was AutoMod with a bug. Issue resolved.

I’ve been asked to repost the link to the Mitsubishi Ecodan Remote Control that got redacted to see if the bug is still present so here goes …

Hey @Ph1l

Welcome to the community!

Have you thought about reaching out to a tech repair shop? They might be able to take a look at your device, and it could just be a loose display connector! That way, you might save some money on a replacement.

Also, I fixed Peter’s link above—thanks for your patience! We’re rolling out a new feature and encountering a few challenges, but we're making progress.

Hope this helps! Let us know how it goes! 😊

I thought I had been put on the naughty step but it turns out that the forum doesn't like strings of numbers, thinking they might be personally identifiable information. Elvis is back in the building!

@Peter E, @DavidWSR thank you I’ve found 2 little screws, one at either end of the battery compartment so I’ll try to see if there’s an obvious fix I can do by myself

To everyone else, thank you for taking an interest
