Electric combi boiler cost to run?

You have a conventional electric combi boiler so there's limited options for reducing your bills. I'm struggling to come up with anything except turning the thermostat down, which I'm sure you've considered already.

I have tried that, turned all upstairs off and turned the thermostat down but still worked out at £15 for the day !! Don’t know what to do as cannot afford  a £500 a month bill- have turned it off now !! Feel very miss sold, company states they are more efficient and cheaper than gas …

If they've stated that they're cheaper to run than gas, that's an outright lie and possibly a case for mis-selling.

A new gas boiler is around 90-95% efficient. An electric boiler is 100% efficient. But gas costs 10.4p per kWh while electricity is 34p per kWh. So an electric boiler will cost about 3 times as much to run as a gas boiler.

It is quite cold at the moment. 

Would be worth seeing how the costs are when it is a bit warmer as £15 may be the top end. Although be aware unit rates are likely to go up on 1st April before falling hopefully 

The saving grace is you have wet underfloor heating and it should be well insulated as a new build. 

I am sure you don't want to do it now, but fitting an air source heat pump at some stage instead of the electric boiler would be worth investigating. 

Thank you, yes we are looking at the air source heat pump, hopefully they come down in price !

@Dottie1965 are you in Scotland? Do you have off peak electricity? How long have you been running it for each day ? Does the underfloor ever get warm and do you know what temp the water in the underfloor is achieving ? How many rooms and bathrooms do you have?  
Sorry for all the questions but it’s good to find out as much as poss to get some experience of your system.

I know this is an old post, but just wondering what ​@Dottie1965 and ​@Chris0291 eventually did about their Thermaflow boilers? I’ve just recently moved into a property with one and need to see what the best plan of action is.

still got the same boiler as I’m renting and they won’t upgrade or change it.

Annoyingly it is costing anywhere up to £12 a day to run with heating/washing/dishwasher usage etc 

Oh good grief, that’s a lot! I’m just trying to read up on the boilers just now. Does yours have any option to switch off the heating and just have hot water? Or does it have to run both all the time?

Yes it is a very expensive inefficient boiler to say the least!

There is an option for this however when we tried this before it then caused the whole system to break so reluctant to ever switch it off tbh…
