Hi @Jacko6625

Hopefully some of our users who have boiler cover can step in, but I thought I’d share a few things with you at least while you wait for some other responses.

We offer 3 types of cover for boilers, central heating, and emergencies. Remember, all our plans include unlimited call-outs, access to a network of Gas Safe engineers and a 24/7 emergency helpline.

You can visit the dedicated homepage for more information on all things OVO Boiler Cover and the latest offers: https://www.ovoenergy.com/boiler-cover.

Do let us know what you end up going with and how it goes.😊

Hi thanks for your reply. I’ve read the reviews online , and have gone with essentials for now with four months free , with the rewards scheme also which seems really good.

Definitely worst company ever.  Paying £518 per year for boiler cover, phoned the emergency helpline over 24 hours ago and 4 additional follow up calls and still no response, daylight robbery.

Hi @stevendavidrees

I’m really sorry to hear about this.

We do try our best to assign an engineer to attend within 24 hours of the initial call to report a fault and, where possible, complete repairs within 5 days.

We appreciate you are keen for the fault to be resolved as quickly as possible and we're very sorry for any inconvenience caused while you are waiting for this. You can reach the relevant team for an update via customer-relations@ovoenergy.com.

I have taken the Complete Boiler Cover from OVO (Via Corgi) in Feb2024. However when we called to book the annual Boiler Service due by June 2024, they said that they cannot book me in before August 2024.

The first guy in the helpdesk mentioned about a 6 month exclusion (which is not mentioned in the PID) and the second guy said that all their engineers are booked till July and asked me to go private (easy for them to say even though I have paid for their service for this year).

Is this normal for them to refuse the request this way? Is it something that I can talk to OVO about?

Thanks,

Gayathri

That is shocking, I would contact OVO about this. If they are unhelpful get a refund and find a local gas engineer. Probably be a lot cheaper as well

Is Ovo boiler cover any good?

I find the agents in the call centre to be very nice and helpful, but the process is a bit confusing. I am on the automatic renewal plan. I got my renewal notice and I phoned and asked if I could get a discount. The first person I spoke to said that I could , but I would need to wait until after my current plan finished. The second person I spoke to said that I would need to wait until after the last direct debit payment on my old plan. I have now renewed the plan at a discount, but when I checked my direct debits in my online banking I found that the direct debit for my new plan had started, but the direct debit for my last year’s plan had not been cancelled. I have cancelled it myself. My last boiler check was in the middle of June 2025. My last year’s plan said that my boiler check would be done by August 2026 and the new plan said that it would be by July 2027. I phoned Ovo to enquire about it and was told it had been put down for October 2026. The lady I spoke to moved it forward to after 24/8/26.

Hey @Jackie63,

Thank you for sharing your thoughts and feedback on the renewals process! I’ll be sure to pass them along to the right team.

Honestly, I’ve never thought about calling to ask for a discount when renewing, and I just renewed my travel insurance! I’ll definitely keep that tip in mind for the future.
