I have just received an email regarding my new fixed rate tariff which is due to start in August when the present fix ends. The link in the email does not take me to the new tariff details just to my present plan.

This is not very helpful!

Morning @Bendog, I hope you’re doing well.

Sorry about this - that’s really strange. Can I just confirm that this button is in the renewal confirmation email? Can I also confirm that you’ve renewed recently?

I’ll find the correct person to report this one to internally - thanks very much for flagging.

Yes, this is on the confirmation email. I renewed about a week ago, I think. The email arrived yesterday.

Thanks for confirming @Bendog, I’ve reported this, and will wait for further updates. I’ll let you know when I hear back.

@Bendog Sorry for the delay with this one. I’m waiting to hear back internally about this. Does the link take you to the ‘Plan’ page of your online account?

Hi again @Bendog,

I’ve heard back from our Renewals team that the link will only take you to your current plan details, and won’t show your future plan details.

The Renewals team agree that this is confusing, and are going to look to update this in future. Thanks again for flagging this, much appreciated.

Many thanks, but it does make the email rather pointless. Surely, it would be simple to just send an email containing the information?

Hi @Ben_OVO

While we are on the subject of renewals information; a word with the online Portal team might not be amiss either.

I’m in a similar situation of being in my renewal period,

On the plan page of the portal I now see a link to a renewal window webpage:

Following that link you see a choice of renewal plans, good.
Under each plan there is a “View Details” button, good again.

However if you select to see any of the fixed plan details there is minimal information given but no rates or standing charges. In fact the information given is just repeating what is already on the main page:

The exception is for the standard variable tariff where the rates and standing charges are given.

TBH though I’m wondering if the lack of detail for the fixed plans is simply because they will probably change, more than once, during the renewal period anyway?
I do note that the fixed rates offered changed again yesterday.

However surely it’s not beyond the wit of a decent programmer to show the details for the currently offered fixed tariffs in the same way that they are shown for the SVT ?
After all the rates and SC must be being accessed to calculate and display a required monthly DD.

At the very least they could just add a link to: https://plans.ovoenergy.com/ so that the customer can look then up for themselves.

PS, You might note that it’s showing “Cheapest” next to Simpler Energy there.
Whilst that is correct for DD plans or pay on demand it isn’t strictly correct overall. - Ofgem rules mean that the PAYG rates and SCs are currently substantially cheaper than Simpler Energy; (if you are willing to switch to PAYG).

Slaps head.

Thanks; it wasn’t obvious that they scroll, (no scrollbar), but I should have thought to try.

TBH I’m thinking of going SVT  anyway, at least until things settle down in the gulf.

Yep, that’s what I decided some time ago. I honestly don’t know how ordinary customers who wouldn’t know a spreadsheet from a charge sheet are expected to find the most favourable tariff. Still, it’s likely that SVT will be better than a fix for a few weeks, and anybody’s guess after that.
