New fixed rate tariff to start in August

I have just received an email regarding my new fixed rate tariff which is due to start in August when the present fix ends. The link in the email does not take me to the new tariff details just to my present plan.

This is not very helpful!

@Bendog & @Nukecad I hope you’ve had a look at the Ts & Cs for OVO’s fixed tariffs. I noticed, for example, that current Extended Fixed (22-month) plans no longer impose exit fees for a switch to a different one. That means it would be possible, say, if there’s a major change in the global situation next year or even in 2028, to switch to a more favourable one- or two-year fixed-rate plan without penalty.

@Firedog I do keep a spreadsheet up to date with the current fixes.

As I’m sure you already know OVO don’t usually apply exit fees for any tariff-hop.
Generally they only apply if you are switching supplier.

I have tariff-hopped in the past, ie. changed half way through one fix to another cheaper fix, with no exit fees applied, if you recall we had a discussion about it backstage in the PZH group.

At the moment SVT is much cheaper then any of the fixes being offered, so I will go to that until things change.

(Just to note that the figures below agree with my own spreadsheet when rounded up the the next whole £).

That was the whole point of my friendly warning. Up to a year ago, an Extended Fixed plan attracted a blistering exit fee whatever you replaced it with. I even had to complain last year to have this fee removed when I changed tariff during the old one’s renewal period - it was clearly very hard-wired.  This is the current situation, subject to change whenever, without notice:

From §6 here: Extended Fixed Terms and Conditions | OVO

I haven’t looked to see what the terms are for 1- and 2-year fixes.

TBH I’ve always regarded the ‘Extended Fixed’ as a bit of an oddball tariff.

It seems to be for those who can’t make up their mind if they want a 1-year or a 2-year fix.
