I am about to buy a Kia EV6 and I believe it is not compatible with the ‘charge anytime’ offerings, however, if have one of the two OVO recommended charger installed as per the recommendation here https://www.ovoenergy.com/electric-cars/smart-charger? does this allow then Charge Anytime offering/saving to be used?

Many thanks in advance.

Sure thing.

The beta trial is open to everyone as it’s a public beta. However, the Kia integration has proven to be extremely unreliable for reasons beyond OVO’s control and neither myself nor the Charge Anytime team can recommend it - blame Hyundai/Kia for being terrible with their software!

You can use any Charger listed at https://www.ovoenergy.com/electric-cars/charge-anytime-cars-and-chargers though - and the list of Kia vehicles is there too. Since you’ve got the right Charger anyway, I’d go down that route.

You only need one or the other to be compatible - not both. Please don’t try to pair both at once as you will have a bad experience if you try. The Charger route is almost always the preferred option where supported.

I would be careful buying a charger that is recommended and used by OVO for their charge anytime tariff. I did just that when I first got my Kia in 2024 and purchased an Ohme charger through them and paid more for that then another charger so I could get the cheaper tariff. Then less than a year later they change their system and remove Ohme from their chargers and now my Kia does not connect. Having such a restrictive EV charging platform is not helpful to their customers and just blaming the Kia technology, when they could make things better for their customers and not change charger compatibility. Just be careful going with OVO for a charging tariff - you would be better to shop around.

Hi @Damcleod and thanks for your post. I’ve updated your Forum profile to display your EV ownership. What happened with Ohme was unfortunate, and it’s a shame that it affected you. I hope you’ve now found an easier option that suits you. Just to let you know I’ve deleted your duplicate post on this thread.
