Strange private message

Hello,

When I woke up this morning I got an email from someone called apostleeric.  It was in my private messages section.  It was a very strange message about shipping me some gold and had very religious content.  It mentioned doing business with me.  It freaked me out somewhat so I reported it to the management team it looked like some sort of scam.  How did this person manage to send me a private message? Has anyone else experienced this.

    The spammer accounts have now been erased. All of their PM Spam has been deleted by the system.

      Thanks for your reply.  It was really weird.  I wondered how it got in my private messages and if anyone else has had this.  The user name was Apostleeric.

      You weren’t the only one. The spammer hit a lot of accounts including mine. What they didn’t realise is that they also hit a spamtrap account or two. Let’s just say you don’t wanna be spamming those accounts. :)

        Yes. The forum moderators can erase that user, which completely wipes ALL their PMs from every inbox.

        That’s the action I’ve recommended to them in this case

          I had that suspicion. The spammer must have really hammered the system.

          Erasing them will get rid of the mess, but it takes up to 30 days to fully remove the account.

          Either way, I’ve also let inSided know as this feels like the spammer bypassed abuse protections. My support account comes in pretty useful for these things

          I have one as well from apostleeric1 rather than apostleeric

          I assume best not to open at all and just leave for it to be deleted and dissappear
