Hi @Ian Turner

Regular Power Move is already active - check the OVO app for details.

If you’re on Power Move Flex, I think you’ll be contacted around the 14th July with instructions.

Hope this helps

Just for info, I had my email on 3/7/25 regarding my Power Move Flex.

Ian, I have just received an e-mail from OVO Energy regarding the start of the next phase of Power Move Flex. You should hear from them soon. Good luck with achieving the targets. While this can sometimes be difficult to achieve every time you do, you gain. There are no losses if you cannot achieve a target during the specified times.

Hey @Ian Turner,

Welcome to the community!

Thanks for all your awesome responses! We hope this answered your questions. Since this is a trial, our team will be experimenting with different ways to notify you to see what works best. So, your notification experience might be a little different from others.

I found that two free hours (up to 1kW per hour), which usually are on Sundays for me, make me impossible to participate in the Power Move Flex events. I have already moved my washing to that hours. Unless I’m at home and can do some cooking, during the events, when it’s “up”.

It does seem a bit daft to be running the two at the same time, especially as the rewards are pretty meagre.

As with any of the Power Move schemes, you do need to have some use to move.

It’s why I have never bothered with the ‘Flex’ ones.

I do the standard Power Move, and I’ve had a reward every month simce I joined in Nov 23 - except this last month, 13 draw entries but no prize.
I also do the 2-hours free but often struggle to even reach 1 kwh per hour (without putting something on that I don’t need which would be pretty pointless).

Nukecad ,

I don’t do Power Move as I can’t move meal times out of 5-7pm which accounts for about 12% of weekly use.  I am not sure of the current rewards scheme but if you are only getting entries in a draw which you never win then surely that equals no reward at all.

I also try to do free hours but, as you say, they are at difficult times and the reward is very limited.

Since the prize draw has been introduced, my reward was never more than £2. In the previous two months I haven’t won even that.

Remember, the prize draw is random by design. Sometimes you’ll win, sometimes you’ll win big… Other times you won’t.

I have joined power move flex, but it is not useful to me as I am a low user. Having a couple of hours notice is not helpful as well as I don't check my emails often enough - 'life's too short'

The whole idea is to see how people react to different amounts of advance notice - it’s one of the goals of the upstream CrowdFlex project.

OVO can’t change this right now.

I am in Power Move Flex for Charge Anytime , received confirmation of this on 7th July i was successful in getting in the trial 🤗

I received an email outlining the below….

Simply use the Charge Anytime app as normal while plugging in your EV as often and for as long as you can.

A successful plug in session is having your EV plugged in for at least 6 hours continually.

Do this 3 or more times a week to start earning credit on your bill. The more you do it, the more you can earn.

What you'll earn

Plug in sessions

Reward per week

0-2 sessions

£0

3 sessions

£1

4 sessions

£2

5 sessions

£3

It also mentioned….

We'll ask you to adjust your 'ready-by' time

This will give us more flexibility to avoid times of high demand, meaning it's less likely your EV will be charged by energy from fossil fuels.

We'll always make sure your car's ready when you need it.

You'll receive an extra reward of £1 each time you adjust your 'ready-by' time when asked to. We'll give you more details on this when there's an event coming up.

Also in the same mail, there was an invite to a survey which i duly completed….

Earn more credit by answering a few questions

Answer a few short questions about your Power Move Flex experience and you'll receive £5 bill credit.

I was asked to adjust my ready by time 6 times during July and I was able to do this 5 out of those 6 times.

I also would likely have had some weeks where I would have had a 6hr+ plug in session three times in the week (which I know the number of sessions is calculated between noon and noon, from Sunday to Sunday each week) .

However, i’ve not seen any of this come off my bill for July which has finalised today. Has anyone else in the Power Move Flex for Charge Anytime trial had any rewards on their July bill for this that they were expecting? Or should i raise this with OVO?

Did anyone else complete the survey, and have they received this bill credit yet?

I’ve noticed that the last few months Charge Anytime credit comes off the following month now, so wondering if this is the same for these, but be interested to hear from others.

Thanks

Hey @nmt79,

I’mglad to hear you were successful in getting onto the trial 😊

I’ll ask the team about this internally:

Can you see the credit on your online account?

How do the credit rewards work?

As Power Move Flex for Charge Anytime is part of the CrowdFlex trial, we’re testing multiple ways a customer can earn rewards for helping manage demand on the grid.

Your total reward will depend on the reward group you are randomly placed into and how many plug in sessions you complete during the week.

Hi @Emmanuelle_OVO I checked my account yesterday and saw there was a credit of £11 on my current billing cycle. So looks like July's rewards will credit in August.

I was then about to ask about a breakdown of this, when today I received an email with that detail in, which is great!

July results.

Here's how you did in Power Move Flex for Charge Anytime

Here's how you did last month.

You plugged in for 21 sessions

Earning an average of £3.00 a week

For a grand total of £9.00

You also earned an extra £2.00 for extending your 'ready by' time

We'll add your reward to your bill soon.

So as a further query it only has a credit for 2 times extending my ready by time whereas I did it 5 times out of the times I was invited to do so.

Also still no credit showing for completing the survey that was sent.

Many thanks for your help.

I too received an email today giving details of PMF Charge Anytime.

It says ”You plugged in 178%”. I have no idea what this means 178% of what?

n addition I was only credited with 1 of the 5 ready time extensions when I defiantly changed my ready time by at least the requested number of hours on all 5 occasions.

Not impressed.

Good point , I had 182% and was not sure what that meant ! (Perhaps number of hours compared to the average user in the trial?)

Also I've just re-read the email and it says they asked me to shift my ready by time 5 times and I did it 2 times . I definitely had 6 emails asking me to do this, on 8th, 15th, 18th, 22nd, 24th and 29th July . I still have these emails so I was asked 6 times. And as I said before, I know I changed the ready by time as requested on 5 of these 6 occasions (I missed one of the emails until the next day!)

@nmt79 I never thought to check my emails to see how many requests I has to move my ready-by time. I was asked to move on 8 occasions and I believe that i did so on every occasion. In July 8th,15th,18th,22nd.24th,29th and in August 2nd,and 5th.

What is happening OVO your figures are all wrong?

Bruce

Do we get told the results of the power move flex scheme and the Crowd Flex Trial when it ends? E.g. what worked well, what didn't? Or do they keep that to themselves?

Ive said a few times now that for the group that is getting emails with just two hours notice, it's not working for many of us, the notice is too short. Ive just had an email with results of my power moves for the week 28 July to 2 August. I managed to opt in for just 1 of the four moves that week and I earnt the grand sum of 1p. Then in the green box it says i was in the top 50%. That means 50% of those taking part in this trial earnt nothing. This must be telling the people running this trial that it's not working well this time. Just wondering how much of this will be factored in if another trial is run and if we get to know what 'they' think about these trials.

Whether a trial is deemed to be working well or not depends very largely on what is being tested! The CrowdFlex trials are trying to find out how best to manipulate households’ demand for electricity, should it become necessary to do so. There are any number of reasons why it could help to minimize costs or harm if some customers could be asked at short notice to increase or decrease their consumption*. Trials like this can indicate, say, whether sending out a request with only two hours’ notice is likely to be fruitful. Or whether sending out a request by SMS brings better results than by email.

Any reward you earn is just a thankyou for taking part. Yes, every little helps, but PMF isn’t to be relied on to save you from energy poverty.

*   We’ve seen plenty of examples in the past few years of widespread power outages caused by bad weather. Until power lines can be mended, it’s often possible to serve customers that would otherwise be left in the dark by re-routing, but how effective that is might in turn depend on being able to reduce the demand. If everyone in the affected region could be persuaded to use a few kWh less, more people could continue to get at least some power. That’s a bad weather example - let’s not go into detail about the possibility of terrorist attacks on our energy distribution system. It’s a bit too scary.

Thanks for the reply Firedog. Using your example the current method has proven it would be unsuccessful in a meaningful way but I suppose 50% of customers using less energy in that type of emergency is better than none. Hopefully the trials will find a better way to improve that percentage.

Hi Emmanuelle_OVO,

I’m also on Power Move Flex for Charge Anytime.  In July I was asked 6 times to extend my ready-by time and I’m confident I did on at least 4 occasions.  But I didn’t get credit for any of them on my monthly round-up (I did get the credit for the sessions plugged in).  Did you manage to get to the bottom of the problem on the other reports?  Can you help me sort mine too?  Thanks!
