Vehicle and charger integration is handled by Enode who provide a set of APIs for companies like Ovo to use in their apps. Enode currently allows integration and control of over 1000 cars, chargers and other energy related devices. The Kia Bluelink software links Kia cars to Enode. So, it’s a three way relationship and the issue is the link from Kia to Enode. Enode rate each device with a reliability index from 1 (excellent) to 3 (unreliable), and Kia get a 3. Kia is not actually in beta - it’s just unreliable.
Basically Enode need to work with Kia to improve connectivity, however, I think that Ovo could maybe give Enode a nudge!

Thanks for the comprehensive response…all makes sense. OVO could you possibly give Enode a nudge?

Thanks

OVO has been nudging like crazy - I just spoke to Lexi about it this morning.

There’s unfortunately nothing further OVO can do until Hyundai/Kia wakes up and fixes their terrible BlueLink platform and software.

Hyundai have stated that there Bluelink integration with 3rd party app’s is achievable more by chance than by design.

“We would like to inform you that the Bluelink ecosystem is designed as a closed platform. Hyundai does not currently offer an official and stable API for third-party applications. Access and use of Bluelink services is intended exclusively through the official Bluelink applications and interfaces.
If you have difficulties accessing your data through unofficial third-party applications, please contact the respective provider's support directly. Hyundai cannot provide support in such cases, as we cannot assume responsibility for the functionality and compatibility of external applications.
Thank you for your understanding.”

Also from Hyundai

12V battery drainage on your vehicle and can also indicate misuse by a non-authorized third-party application.

If you have shared your MyHyundai with Bluelink login details to any third-party application that enables command automation, we strongly recommend that you disable the third-party application’s linkage to your MyHyundai account or otherwise disable the command automation function as soon as possible in order to reduce the risk of excessive drainage of your vehicle’s battery.

The use of Bluelink services is only authorized through the following Hyundai provided resources:

  • "MyHyundai with Bluelink”

You would think Enode would be an authorised bluelink interface user?

My apologies

I did cut my above post short & chop the links that pointed to the Bluelink app & Hyundai owners portal.

Tho I did unintentionally mis the lines that stated

                                                                    ********

The use of Bluelink services is only authorized through the following Hyundai provided resources:

  • "MyHyundai with Bluelink”
  • Alexa and Google voice assistant skill integrations

The blurb from Hyundai & Bluelink doesn’t bode well for full api integration anytime soon.

No worries Tom.

If you’d like, I can arrange to get that merged into your original comment for you. Just let me know and we’ll get that sorted, on the house.

@Blastoise186  if it streamlines the thread some, go ahead, but no need to do it on my account.

Having read this thread, am I correct in assuming that the Hyundai/Kia problems would be avoided when a compatible charger is used to control the charging schedule?

Yes, a compatible charger is a better solution, however, many of us had compatible Ohme chargers which are not currently supported. Hence the move to charging via the car instead of the charger.

It also seems that Hyundai/Kia aren’t interested in integration with any 3rd party apps, which is disappointing. It’s Enode that provide Ovo with vehicle connectivity and an enterprise license agreement, so Ovo need to lean on Enode as they are not providing full value for money.

For reference the manufacturers with the best connectivity include Audi, BMW, Cupra, Jaguar, Land Rover, Lexus, Mercedes, Mini, Porsche, Seat, Skoda, Tesla, Toyota, and Volkswagen.

My next EV will probably be from that list!

Correct - when integrated via the Charger, CA doesn’t care what vehicle is being charged.
