Important news for Indra charger owners - it’s time to set up your new Indra app

Updated on 29/04/25 by Bradley_OVO: We've new added troubleshooting steps below to help you if you're having trouble getting set up

If you own an Indra charger, you can now update your EV charger apps. This is because from 8 May 2025, the access to the current Indra web app will be gradually phased out.

The new Indra mobile app will work seamlessly with Charge Anytime, allowing you to keep all the great features. Like your discounted smart charging rate, and being able to lock your Indra Smart Pro charger.

Please follow the steps below so you can successfully migrate your Indra app.

Already set up on the new Indra mobile app?

If you've already set up an Indra account on the new Indra mobile app, follow Step 2 below to pair your charger with Charge Anytime.

Step-by-step guide

1. Set up your charger on the Indra mobile app (you’ll need to be near to your charger)

  • Download the Indra app on the App Store or Google Play, then create an account
  • Create a new account (you’ll need to do this even if you had an account on the legacy Indra web app powered by Kaluza)
  • Set up your vehicle
  • Add your charger - on the ‘Schedule’ screen, select ‘No schedule’
  • Choose OVO as your supplier
  • Update your charger if prompted, then click finish

2. Pair your charger with Charge Anytime

  • Download the Charge Anytime app (if you don’t already have it) on the App Store or Google Play
  • Follow the instructions in the Charge Anytime app to log in with your OVO account, add your Indra charger, and link your Indra account

Once you've completed these steps, you can use the Charge Anytime app to schedule your charging sessions, and the new Indra app for all other charger management tasks.

It’s a good idea to download your charging history from the current Indra web app, if you need it. You might not be able to access this after 8 May.

Now that your charger operates with the Charge Anytime app, some of the features will be different. For example, the scheduling optimiser (which is still powered by Kaluza) needs to reset between charging sessions. Otherwise a new schedule won't be loaded and your vehicle won't charge.

Find all our troubleshooting tips below:

If experiencing an issue when charging multiple vehicles:

Once you’ve charged one vehicle, unplug it and wait for 15 minutes to allow the optimiser to reset. After that, you can plug in your other vehicle, set your “ready by” time, and the app will take care of the rest.

If experiencing an issue when charging a single vehicle:

If, after 20 minutes, your EV doesn’t charge when it’s plugged in, we’ll assume the EV is fully charged and remove schedules from the charger.

If the app initially shows schedules when the EV is plugged in but then stops displaying them after the EV stops charging, please:

  • Check for any settings in the EV that could restrict charging.
  • Unplug the EV for 15 minutes, then plug it in again to reset the charging schedules.

Still experiencing issues migrating to the new app or charging in the new app?  Try these troubleshooting steps:

  • Make sure that your charger is now linked and showing within the Indra mobile app - you can download the app from Google Play / App Store
  • Make sure your charger is online. If the LED status is solid white, the charger is online and connected to the charging platform (the Indra app will also confirm this). If it’s offline, the charger will be flashing purple (the Indra app should also confirm when the charger is offline). When the charger is offline, smart charging/charging via schedule won’t work. We recommend turning your charger off for 30 mins for a full reset. If this doesn't work, you'll need to contact Indra support.
  • Make sure there are no schedules set in your vehicle, your vehicle app or the Indra app.
  • Unplug for 15 minutes to let our smart charging optimiser reset.
  • Make sure your charger is unlocked - the settings section of the Indra app gives you the option to lock or unlock your charger.
  • Make sure the vehicle is in a state ready to accept charge before plugging in - you can ‘wake up’ an EV by unlocking, opening and closing a door, then locking again prior to plug in.
  • Plug in, set a new ready by time and let the Charge Anytime app do the rest.

Experiencing issues with Charge Anytime if you’ve got a Tesla:

If your vehicle isn’t charging to full

To support local electricity networks, we would previously adjust the amount of energy used when charging EVs at certain times of the day depending on demand.

Instead, we now pause your charging at these times, before resuming it again later.

Some vehicle brands, like Tesla, interpret the pause as the charging session being finished and fall into sleep mode. Our attempts to restart charging are then rejected.

Putting your Tesla in Sentry Mode stops it from falling asleep and allows Charge Anytime to continue pausing and resuming charging as intended.

We’re here if you need us

If you’re having issues setting up the new Indra app, you can call Indra on 01684 770 631 or email support@indra.co.uk.

If you’re having issues connecting to the Charge Anytime app, you can email us on chargeanytime@ovo.com or call 0330 175 9678 and select option 2 (Monday to Friday, 9am to 5pm).

Hello @nmt79, has it resolved? No the EV section of the web site will continue to work and, at this moment, is working fine for me, though I will admit I’ve seen that message before.

Can you give us more information, I assume it’s a Indra charger given the thread so the status of the Indra app would be a help.

Hi thanks for the message . It is an Indra charger , in fact it's a new one installed earlier this month to replace a faulty one. I think the timing of this, changing the app, and also having a faulty car all at the very same time has somewhat made it difficult to understand what might be causing issues.

Indra app is all working fine.

Since posting this message OVO got back via email and said the below  regarding the charge anytime app Vs the OVO app, so I assume it's all right and only the charge anytime app now shows the usage…

Thanks

you'll be using the Charge Anytime app now, where you'll see the charging data and savings.

As long as you can see those then were all good.

You'll not be using the Ovo online account now. only Charge Anytime app.

Hey @nmt79,

Have you managed to check your usage on the Charge Anytime app? I awarded you an EV badge for your profile so we know that you’re an EV owner 🎉

Hi @Chris_OVO Thanks - yes Charge Anytime app is working fine , thanks. I understand the normal Ovo App (under ‘EV Charger’) and the Ovo website (under ‘Your EV’) no longer functions, hence the error messages i reported.

I would recommend anyone reading this to NOT set up their Indra app and leave it on the web app. The Indra integration with the Charge Anytime App DOES NOT work and Ovo / Indra do not have a solution to this at present. Don’t make the same mistake many of us have made.

Hopefully there is a lesson learnt here to actually test things properly before they are rolled out to customers.

So I’ve updated, everything says it was successful, plugged in last night, and nothing. No charge. Waiting for replies from Indra and OVO support although if it had worked properly in the first place.

I unplugged and replugged the charger into the car, it started charging, but has stopped again after adding only 3.8KW. and the lights are flashing green which doesnt seem to feature on Indra’s troubleshooting list

Reading the intro on this page, what does “Now that your charger operates with the Charge Anytime app, some of the features will be different. For example, the scheduling optimiser (which is still powered by Kaluza) needs to reset between charging sessions. Otherwise a new schedule won't be loaded and your vehicle won't charge.” mean???

I have followed all of the actions on the email requesting that we move to the new Indra and Ovo Charge Anytime Apps, but unfortunately it does not appear to work.

With the car unplugged the Charge Anytime app told me that the car is unplugged as expected.

I plugged my car in, the new Indra app reported it was connected, but the charge Anytime app reports there is a connection issue and your car is not connected.

So I am doubtful it will charge up overnight.

The lights on the charger were initially flashing Green (i.e waiting for charge)

Given the number of issues I now see on the forum why are Ovo forcing this out onto everyone?  The emails recommending it should be stopped until the application and supporting platform is fixed.

If you’ve not spoken to the team about that issue, please contact them on 0330 175 9678 or chargeanytime@ovo.com - it’s probably an issue specific to you.

Hey @Wharfrat,

A flashing green light indicates that the charger is connected to the EV but not actively charging - “The green light indicates the charger is ready and connected, but the charging hasn't started because a charging session hasn't been initiated”. It could also be a function called “ Fixed Calibration Load” but that’s normally only seen during installation.

This means that you need to wait at least 15 minutes between charging sessions to allow the schedules to reset and load the next schedule.

Hey @darren.guscott,

I’ve merged your question into this thread as it’s similar to the discussions our members are having here.

There are troubleshooting steps on the main thread itself if you haven’t seen them already. If you’re still having issues our Charge Anytime team are available to troubleshoot with you over the phone on 0330 175 9678 (option 2 existing customers).

To clarify the point about "OVO forcing this out," the app is owned by Indra. OVO is simply assisting with the migration of customers to the new platform. While such migrations can experience initial difficulties and unforeseen issues, the teams are dedicated to resolving any problems quickly to minimize disruption. We apologise for any frustration this transition period may be causing.

Hi Moderators - please move this post if not relevant to this thread.

I have noticed that since all this change with the Indra/Charge Anytime apps that my charging from solar is being recorded differently. It is showing that I’m actually drawing some power from the grid when I thought I’ve been purely charging from solar. I don’t understand why this is the case, or perhaps it always has been the case but it wasn’t shown separately on the data.

Does this mean I will be paying the normal unit rate for anything I use from the grid, like when I use the ‘boost’ feature. I’ve thought the point of solar charging is to use what is being generated surplus to household requirements and not draw from the grid at all.

I’m finding it quite difficult to reconcile the data from both the apps - I’m hoping it’s just a matter of getting used to the change. Is anyone else not understanding it, or is understanding it and can help me?

Thanks!

Hi @Jasmin10 ,

I’ve had a chat with the team - they’ve acknowledged this one but need a bit of time to crunch the answer.

Hang in there for a bit and we’ll let you know what they say when they’ve had some time to dig the data.
