How to set up your smart charger to use it with Charge Anytime

Updated on 23/05/25 by Emmanuelle_OVO

If you have a compatible charger then you need to link the charger to your OVO online account. You don’t need the additional Charge Anytime app.

We recommend opening your OVO online account in Google Chrome, and following these steps: (If this doesn’t work the first time please try this using a new ‘Incognito’ window)

  1. Go to the Offers and Upgrades section.
  2. Click on the Charge Anytime banner.
  3. Select the compatible charger that you have
  4. It’ll ask you for the username and password to log in to your charger manufacturers’ app.
  5. This will link your charger to your OVO account and you’ll get a new heading in your OVO account called ‘Your EV’.
  6. You’ll still need to schedule the charging in your charger manufacturers' app. And after you’ve charged, the savings will show in the Your EV section of your online account.

NOTE - If you ‘Boost’ or ‘Max Charge’ on the charger to charge immediately, this will bypass Charge Anytime and charge the car at your normal unit rate. See this topic for more details:

To link your Indra charger to your OVO account you’ll need your Indra Web Portal Username and Password

Indra has more than one platform to manage their chargers, and their own app doesn’t support Charge Anytime yet. They’ll need to move your charger over to the platform that does support Charge Anytime.

If you have an Indra charger and you don’t have a username and password you’ll need to contact Indra directly and they can set this up for you.

You can reach out to Indra via 01684 770 631 or by emailing support@indra.co.uk.

Like you i started off only night charging my PHEV but on realising that it actually worlks “Anytime” I’m now plugging it in except at the Power Move peak times.  I’m using the Anytime app as I dont have a compatible charger and would like it to have an option to avoid time periods (like the Power Move peak).  If anyone agrees they could upvote my suggestion here link to forum.  I’ve only once not got a charge when I wanted since December.   (With a PHEV thats not a real issue)

I love to hear that you are taking advantage of Charge Anytime and the Power Move challenge side by side! It’s nice to see when services can link together to benefit you! I would encourage anyone reading to look at @wkeithg’s suggestion above!

Keep sharing your stories with us, as it’s good to read so many different paths and journeys with EV. 😊

I have a MG4 and just had ohme epod charger installed at home. I am now trying to login to my OVO Account to select the Anytime add on.

I am aware that OVO anytime should be compatible with either the charger or EV..... so when checking the 'elegibility' I've selected my epod charger, the next question is to select a car. There is no MG now listed? Even though I understand I don't require a compatible EV anyway, because there is no option to select I can't proceed any further!

Has something changed on the website with this as I didn't think this was the case only a few weeks ago.

Should I just select any car from the list just to allow the add on to be added to my account? From my understanding I thought the anytime option would just need to be compatible with the epod so it shouldn't matter anyway whatever car I have

Seems now.by not having MG car listed it's preventing this process to proceed.

You should set up using the Charger in this case - DO NOT use the Charge Anytime app.

If you get stuck, contact Ohme and they’ll assist you.

Thanks but I'm not sure this has answered my specific question? There seems to be a functionality issue with the process of adding the anytime option to my account....this is a pre-req right? Once that is added I then assumed i can then setup the ohme app to connect with charger/ anytime tariff etc?

(I'm not using the anytime app)

I'm just looking to get past this point to proceed... if this has recently changed on the site then I guess existing users may not be aware or affected.

Nope, you shouldn’t need to specify the EV. If needed, just pick a random one. But with a Charger, do everything via the Charger app - not OVO.

Have you looked at the instructions from Ohme @markp1102 ?

Thanks all for help. ..OK as per above 'if needed pick a random one' ill try that.

That is the point I'm trying to make, it seems the website is now asking to select a vehicle regardless, I don't think this was the case only a few weeks ago ;)

(I do have the instructions on how to integrate the ohme with anytime, but I'll need to add it first)

As has been mentioned, you should do everything via the Ohme app. That will link to your OVO account

Hi @markp1102,

Welcome to the community! I have added a shiny new EV badge to your profile.

As @Blastoise186 & @BPLightlog have pointed out, once you complete the setup in the Ohme app, this will link to Charge Anytime within your account.

We also have a complete FAQ page for Charge Anytime.

Keep us updated so we know you got it working.

Just to report back as per above suggestion when adding the anytime option to my account I just had to choose another car, this all got added ok. When I now look on the ohme app I can see the tariff.

I am yet to schedule a charge though so will probably do this over the next few days…
