Hello

Like most people in this forum, I've recently started having issues with my Ford MachE using charge anytime.

I seen on another thread we're hopeful to have an update today, can anyone confirm if we've a resolution.

Ill simply have no other option but to leave and join one of the company's offering a discounted EV

Charge Anytime update: We’re sorry, we can't offer Charge Anytime through Ford anymore

Since Ford blocked third party access to their vehicle data, we've been working closely with them to find a solution so you can keep Charge Anytime.

Unfortunately, we now know that Ford won't be able to provide a solution for the foreseeable future. So you won’t be able to get our Charge Anytime rate of 7p per kWh through Direct to Vehicle smart charging. This means you’ll pay your standard electricity unit rate for all EV charging.

We’ll disconnect your vehicle from your Charge Anytime account on 31 July, so you’ll no longer have access to your charging history from that date. We know this is really disappointing, and we’re sorry we’ve not been able to find a solution for you.

Please note, this affects all energy suppliers, not just OVO.

You might be able to get Charge Anytime through a compatible charger – please see below for more details.

We’ve added £25 credit to all our affected customers’ accounts

To say sorry, we’ve added £25 energy credit to our affected customers’ energy accounts. If you’ve been affected, you’ll see this credit on your next bill.

You could keep Charge Anytime via a compatible charger

If you have a compatible Indra Smart PRO or Hypervolt Home charger, you can still get Charge Anytime. Just follow these steps:

  • Remove Charge Anytime from your account. To do this, go to the Charge Anytime app, select your green user icon, and click delete account.
  • Delete the app from your phone.
  • Sign up to Charge Anytime again, using your charger details.

If you don’t have one of these compatible chargers, we could install one for you. Head over to our website for more information.

Some Andersen chargers will also be compatible with Charge Anytime soon. Check if yours will be compatible on our website

If you have any questions about this change, you can contact Ford via their website

Thanks

The OVO Team

Ok, looks like its time to leave.

£250 out of pocket and only a £25 reimbursement as a goodwill gesture.

False promises that this is being looked at, and prioritised.

Lies that Ovois looking at reimbursing all the *over charges*

Its disgraceful to take advantage of the customer when the cost of living is increasing at such a rate

As it so happens, I was talking about FordPass stuff with a contact of mine yesterday. They prefer not to be named, but are willing to let me post some elements of the discussion.

I write these notes for the benefit of all those who come here. Please bear in mind that these are my personal thoughts and views, so they don’t necessarily reflect the same views or position of OVO, Kaluza or Ford - they should be treated as my words alone.

In order to keep the Lawyers happy and not have them throw books at me, I also cannot reveal everything I know at this time.

Once again, I will post the reminder that if you stick around, OVO will attempt to reimburse ALL lost credits in bulk, as long as they can pull the required data. If you leave now however, you will NEVER receive those credits as leaving OVO automatically revokes the permissions required in order to do so. In the meantime, you are not being overcharged as long as you’re paying the standard rates for your tariff.

If you really want to leave, that’s your choice and no-one here will stop you doing so - but heed my advice above first. You have been warned about the consequences and there’ll be no further warning if you decide to leave despite this. Arguably, you probably wouldn’t be able to complain later either for the same reason (but also because leaving automatically nukes 99% of complaints).

As for the OVO Charge Anytime X FordPass V2 Integration (this is an unofficial name we came up with for it on the Forum btw), this stuff really does take time to develop and test thoroughly before it can even hit Alpha or Beta status - and it cannot be released outside of the testing labs until it hits at least Beta because it wouldn’t be anywhere near stable enough until then.

This is NOT a Dump N Go solution, not unless you want to have a totally half-baked product that never works.

That is why it’s taking time - because ultimately, OVO and Ford want to get it right this time.

I think we all understand the constraints you have here on the information you cab pass on but with my OVO contract expiry looming, I just need to understand if I am ever going to get a FordPass/OVO Charge Anytime solution to these problems or is this one of those jam tomorrow promises (a bit like nuclear fusion power plants) ?  The fact that FordPass are also at the same stage with Octopus and others does not give much choice really if you own a PHEV.

Please keep up the good work and let us know any developments that you can, without compromising yourself or your contacts.  Thanks again.

Ford has walked away from just about every energy supplier. You’re better off doing it via the Charger if you have a Ford.
