Ford electric vehicle smart charging issue with OVO Charge Anytime?

Earlier this week Ford Pass suspended my account as linked with OVO (3rd Party App)

Therefore I am unable to use and will cost c£100 per month more on my electricity bill.

Is anyone else experiencing this issue and what are Ford and OVO doing to resolve?

I use a Pod Point 7kw charger to charge a Ford Mustang Mach E XL using the OVO Charge anytime App linked to my Ford Pass for the smart charging to give me best rate.

Charge Anytime update: We’re sorry, we can't offer Charge Anytime through Ford anymore

Since Ford blocked third party access to their vehicle data, we've been working closely with them to find a solution so you can keep Charge Anytime.

Unfortunately, we now know that Ford won't be able to provide a solution for the foreseeable future. So you won’t be able to get our Charge Anytime rate of 7p per kWh through Direct to Vehicle smart charging. This means you’ll pay your standard electricity unit rate for all EV charging.

We’ll disconnect your vehicle from your Charge Anytime account on 31 July, so you’ll no longer have access to your charging history from that date. We know this is really disappointing, and we’re sorry we’ve not been able to find a solution for you.

Please note, this affects all energy suppliers, not just OVO.

You might be able to get Charge Anytime through a compatible charger – please see below for more details.

We’ve added £25 credit to all our affected customers’ accounts

To say sorry, we’ve added £25 energy credit to our affected customers’ energy accounts. If you’ve been affected, you’ll see this credit on your next bill.

You could keep Charge Anytime via a compatible charger

If you have a compatible EV or Charger, you can still get Charge Anytime. Just follow these steps:

  • Remove Charge Anytime from your account. To do this, go to the Charge Anytime app, select your green user icon, and click delete account.
  • Delete the app from your phone.
  • Sign up to Charge Anytime again, using your charger details.

If you don’t have one of these compatible chargers, we could install one for you. Head over to our website for more information.

Some Andersen chargers will also be compatible with Charge Anytime soon. Check if yours will be compatible on our website

If you have any questions about this change, you can contact Ford via their website

Thanks

The OVO Team

Hi @Longer & @ARH73 ,

We should have an update to share by the 8th of April. We have heard from other users that you can still charge your vehicle using the cheaper tariff. You will need to call Ford each time this is done and then unblock your account. This is the most up-to-date information we have, when we know more I’ll pop back to this topic and update you.

I hope this helps.

Update for Ford drivers having issues with Charge Anytime

Thanks for bearing with us while we work with Ford to get you back on Charge Anytime. We hope to have an update by 8 April. If we find out anything sooner, we’ll let you know.

We really don’t want you to miss out on your Charge Anytime rate. If we can find a solution, we'll ask Ford to share your charging data, so we can backdate your credit. We’ll let you know if we’re able to do this.

And we’ll update you here as soon as we have any other information.

Thank you for this update. Before I cam ehere, I had earlier emailed bith yourselves and Ford Customer Care urging a resolution asap both from personal benefit (credit back) but also the environmental aspects.

Will the update come by email to customers or found here on the forum?

As other users have reported Ford suspended my Ford Pass app. I spoke to one of their team. He alluded to Ovo and Ford in discussions to resolve the matter but was otherwise not very helpful. Given the size of Ford and Ovo I hope for a quick resolution.

Ford should at least offer to unban you for the time being - have they done so?

Hi @ARH73

@Blastoise186 has made a good point here. You can contact Ford each time you charge and they will unlock the account for you. We have heard this from most of our members in the same position. It isn’t the ideal solution but it will allow you to continue to use Charge Anytime until the issues have been resolved.
