Finding current OVO tariffs and plans from the online account?

When I'm logged on to myAccount, I can't seem to find any links to show me the currently available tariffs and plans (like the information I received when I had to renew). Am I missing something?

The lack of a search facility from myAccount doesn't help either (or is that something else I've missed)?

Hey @HexhamUser,

Thank you for that great question.

Great to see our community members giving you some tip-top advice here.

We’ve got some great news! We’ve recently re-opened up our Fixed tariffs to everyone on the market. You can find out all about our available tariffs here: https://www.ovoenergy.com/home-energy-plans.

Take a browse through and see what’ll work for you.

Hope this helps.

As your plan is nearing its expiry, it’ll always show you the new plans available. Just open the app, tap on the little person icon in the top right corner, then hit “Plan details.” You’ll see your current plan along with a message saying “Your plan’s ending soon” and “Choose your new plan.” No need to call OVO; I’ve found some better plans from other providers, so I’m still deciding whether to switch or renew with OVO.

Except that the “Online Exclusive” isn’t shown with the other ones offered in ‘Choose your new plan’. (TBH it probably should be there. but it isn’t).

So unless you looked at the ‘Our Plans pages at https://plans.ovoenergy.com/ , or happened to see it on that specific comparision website, then you wouldn’t even know about it.

I just had a look, and they show the same plans, but the 'Our Plans' page at https://plans.ovoenergy.com/ has rates without the 5% VAT, so they seem cheaper.

Yes the rates on the “Our Plans” page are always shown without VAT, so you have to be careful when doing comparisions.

I have a spreadsheet for doing that, which I can easily change to compare the latest offers.

eg this shows just the currently offered “1 Year Fixed Loyalty” and “Online Exclusive” tariffs for my own actual usage scenario rather than the averages used by websites, as you can see although the rates and standing charges are different for each;  for my particular usage case there is not much difference between the two:

Obviously if you have a higher usage and/or a different mix of electricity and gas then your case will be different.

To me, they’re pretty much the same, so they should get different treatment based on their postcode.

Wow! Nukecad......prices for my postcode are much higher (Torbay), but thankfully my usage is comparatively low, approximately 1400 electricity and 5600 gas. I'm not tech savvy enough to do a spreadsheet  but have done some approximate sums to include VAT for the Online Exclusive tariff and note that there really isn't much difference between that and the offer on my renewal page, probably less than £10 if my figures are anywhere near correct! I might just call though, to see if that really is the best offer available (that's if the hold queue isn't too long!).

My thanks to you and samsonluk for your help.

They do - Which is why the first thing that ‘Our Plans’ page asks you for is your postcode so that it can show the appropriate tariffs for where you live.

Tricia notes above that the rates are different in Torbay than in Cumbria where I am.
I just checked and for a TQ1 postcode the electricity unit rates are lower than for a CA22 but the standing charge higher; for gas it’s the other way round.

Just for interest I did a comparision of the different postcode areas using Tricia’s approx usage:

@Tricia all renewal options should be listed on your online account / app. Have a look and see if the ‘1 Year Fixed Loyalty’ tariff is available, you might find that that plan has the cheapest available rates.

@Nukecad , thanks for taking the trouble to do the comparison check. It's interesting. @Ben_OVO , yes I've checked my online renewals offers and I also spoke to Rich at OVO customer services who told me that they are the offers available to me. Since my renewal date is still over a month away,  I'm going to chance waiting another week or two in the hope that a better tariff comes on offer closer to 20th August.

That’s currently my strategy too, my current fix ends  27th August.

Of course there is a gamble in doing it, the tariffs being offered could go up.

@Tricia @Nukecad I miss the days when I could confidently tell a customer which tariff would be best for them! It really can be a lottery at the moment. I renewed onto the 1 Year Fixed Loyalty plan last week and I hope it was the best decision. Always bare in mind, you’ve got the 14 day cooling off period so, if you do renew your tariff, you’ve still got the 14 days to change your mind without incurring any exit fees.

I wonder. (No gas here, so these remarks apply only to electricity plans.) I just checked the plans available for my own postcode and see that the latest Loyalty tariff is dated 09/07. A week earlier, an Extended Fixed (for 15 months) became available for a few days - I think it’s gone again now. I grabbed one of these a few months ago; it’s not saving me much this month with the 1 July reduction in the price cap, but these are the comparison figures for the three plans, using Ofgem’s Typical Domestic Consumption Values for a medium single-rate household:

1 Year Fixed Loyalty - 09/07/2025     £830.73
Extended Fixed - 02/07/2025      £818.33
Extended Fixed - 27/02/2025 (my plan)     £811.18

July’s Simpler Energy (the Standard Variable Tariff) costs £847.45 per annum. I’m personally expecting standing charges (SC) to increase significantly over the next year*. Some of the possible increases - in Net Zero policy costs for enhancing National Grid’s transmission system, for example, and a bit extra for debt reduction for customers in difficulties - have already been mooted, but we’ve heard little about the cost of expanding the Warm Home Discount scheme which could amount to another 3-4p per diem. Any increase weighs heavily in my deliberations, because SC currently amounts to almost 50% of my bills.

The exit fee may put some customers off, especially those who can’t resist a special offer. Others prefer the security of knowing what their prices are going to be during the next turbulent period.

*   Big increases typically arrive on 1 October, which is why it’s a good idea to have at least a couple of months’-worth of credit on your account at that stage, to avoid having to increase the Direct Debit at that juncture.

Moral: keep checking Our prices | OVO Energy, regularly, daily if it’s really important. The best tariffs are often only available for a few days as the commercial people will often apply a quota for the number of customers taking a particularly favourable one.
