Aclara meter beeping HELP!

I have an Aclara SGC 1311 and it has been beeping since credit ran out - credit was added within 5 minutes of running out but it has continued to beep the entire day. OVO say this is not an emergency and an engineer can only attend next week😩it is driving everyone crazy. Anyone know how to reset it? It only has an A and B button and I have tried pressing and holding them a million times😩any help much appreciated!!

If your smart meter is making a beeping sound, please contact our Support Team who will arrange an appointment for you if necessary. Common smart meter FAQs and troubleshooting can be found on our website here.

By the way, I just had a chat with an engineer for advice about how to mute the buzzer. It requires a full power cycle which only an engineer can do I’m afraid.

If you get lucky, you might be able to get your DNO to pull the main fuse for a few moments to force a power cycle, but I can’t make any promises that they will.

Hi @Smartmeterhelp ,

The Aclara SGC1311 is only a Comms Hub that’s attached to an Aclara SGM1311. Did you make a typo by any chance?

Please show us a few photos of the meter - and at least one that clearly shows the meter display. We’ll see what we can figure out for you.

Thanks

I see. It appears the meter has detected a possible fault and is trying to warn you about it. There isn’t a way to stop the warning until it gets resolved, unless it clears itself. This is a safety feature.

It’s not because it’s a Smart Meter though - any decent meter would do this, Smart or otherwise.

IIRC it may pause overnight but it won’t silence completely while the fault condition still exists.

Just to ask, are you sure that it’s the Aclara that is beeping and not that EDMI CS010A next to it?

I said, Hey - Watts going on.

It’s almost certainly the Aclara - I spotted the fault indicator is illuminated. I had a chat with Luke about it last night and that’s his diagnosis as well.

@Smartmeterhelp welcome to the Forum, and sorry to hear about the beeping meter - very frustrating 😫.

It’s not great that you need to put up with it for a week, however I can say that a week’s wait for an appointment is not too bad at least - a lot of the time you’d end up waiting far longer. Hopefully the engineer can sort it easily 🤞.
