Seem to be going round in circles so I have now  finally asked for this to be escalated to a formal comlaint with a view to seeking help from the Ombudsman .

Thanks everyone foryour guidance and support. Have really appreciated it !

Hey @Dreghorn1

Sorry to hear you’ve had to take it to Ombudsman in the end.

Hopefully you get the outcome you desire. Do pop back if you can when you have an update, it would surely be helpful to others in the community.

Good afternoon all,

I have been, and in fact still on, a bigger roller coaster than that offered at Alton Towers.

Yesterday I thought all was good as it had been sorted with  a message to me saying my off-peak rates/times were  “...00:00-07:00, 13:00-16:00, 23:00-24:00 @ 13.423p/kWh (inc VAT).

Today Eon sent me a message saying “...the off peak hours are likely to be from 23:00 - 07:30.” totally contradicting the previous day’s information.

What can I trust ? What can I believe from Eon ?

( Thanks for listening to my moan! )

Kind regards

I’m guessing it came from two different departments. 🙄

If  only !!

The first message was confirmed by a second person yesterday , so alll good, but when I was trying to arrange a meter installation, the second person changed the off-peak hours to just 23.00 to 07.30 !

As a matter of interest has anyone come across the  SSC 00228 ?  Thanks

SSC 0228 is a Standard Settlement Configuration covering two Time Pattern Regimes (TPRs). The information I’ve been able to find gives the offpeak times for this SSC as follows:

  • TPR 01361   All days Offpeak
    1st Nov - 31st March 0000-0700, 1400-1600
    1st April - 31st October 0000-0600, 1300-1500 , 2300-2400

I don’t trust my source 100%, but in case it is accurate, I’d point out that TPRs higher than 00999 have traditionally been used for RTS schemes. TPR 01361 thus sounds like a soon-to-be-obsolete RTS plan. Is this perhaps what you were offered instead of a more-or-less standard E10 plan?

I wonder if your advisor was suffering from the same crosseyedness as I was when poring over these tables. Summertime seems to have been fixed, because the official ‘last Sunday’ switching dates can’t easily be fitted into the TPR format. The nine offpeak hours shift by an hour, oddly in the ‘wrong’ direction, so I’m not at all sure how they change if at all.

I should struggle against being saddled with that odd E8½ plan if I were you. I suspect the current daytime offpeak periods are quite valuable to you.

Most suppliers have stopped offering E10, OVO are the only supplier I'm aware of still offering E10.

I know of at least one EDF customer in NE England who recently had an Aclara SMETS2 SGM-1416B meter installed to replace the old RTS system and had it configured for Economy 10 with a plan like this: ECO2020-Econ10-Apr25.pdf.

Customer this week in Scottish Highlands (THTC), they've been given an appointment date and they've only been offered economy 7 or standard variable heating (bit like E8), I suggested they ask for E10, EDFs response was 'we don't offer economy 10'. This was 2 days ago? Also know of another THTC customer in Shetland who's been offered the standard variable heating tariff.

I'll mention to both of them to request the tariff you've mentioned and see what the response is.

I think now that EDF have finally managed to find their way to the far north they're trying to force customers to change supplier so they don't have go back again 😄.

Thanks.

Just a wee update to thank one and all for all advice and guidance you gave me over recent months. Much appreciated. I have finally agreed a satisfactory E10 product with Eon. I believe this would not have happened without all  your help.  Thanks again.  Kind regards.

Just to confirm that the new smart meter  I have got from Eon retains my current Fixed rate ( to August 2026) but has slightly longer off-peak times . The new smart meter will be confirgured to SSC0711 / TPR 00325. I live in Central Scotland (EH48 ...)  Hope this helps others. Best wishes.

That’s really good news. Thanks for letting us know.

You’re on a really good deal if your unit rates are reasonable. As far as I can see, you’re getting offpeak rates for four slots totalling 12 hours each weekday, and for the whole weekend. I’d keep a careful eye on what times (a) heating equipment is switching on and off, and (b) what times the tariff is switching from peak to offpeak and vice versa. The timings should coincide exactly, but they don’t always get it right first time …

@Dreghorn1 thanks so much for the update - always nice to hear a success story! 😁.

It’s also always great to see the OVO Forum being of help to customers of other suppliers - that’s why we keep it as an open forum 😁.

Feel free to fire any other questions our way if you get stuck, cheers!
