Seen any gigs or events at one of our venues that you want to go and see? Maybe you could win yourself some free tickets this month 😎

This September, we're offering you the chance to win another 2 free tickets to an event of your choice at one of our venues, with OVO Live. You'll have the opportunity to experience an unforgettable night of entertainment at either OVO Arena Wembley or the OVO Hydro Glasgow.

How to enter

This month, we’re doing things a little differently…

As you would have seen via our Augusts OVO Live competition here - the OVO Live website went through a recent update and the ability to hold competitions is currently unavailable - we hope to get back to our regular sign up process as of October onwards.

This month, all you need to do, is post a comment in this articles thread giving your best energy saving tip/advice as we start heading into the winter months!

Once the competition ends (see dates and times below) we’ll pick the best tip/advice given by a user and reach out to them to let them know they’ve won and how they can claim their free tickets!

If you don’t have a forum account already, you can go to the ‘Login/Sign up’ button at the top right of this page and follow the instructions. It’s free and simple to do.

IMPORTANT: You’ll need to post your best energy saving tip/advice in this articles comment section to be entered into this months competition!

The competition will run until Tuesday September 30th at 23:59pm, when a winner will be picked by the OVO Forum team. The winner will be drawn on Wednesday October 1st and will be contacted by email. You can pick the event of your choice over the next 12 months, and we’ll work out the rest.

Invest in some smart plugs e.g. TP-Link Tapo

Create a schedule for devices that are normally on, so that they switch off  outside of their normal usage times e.g. TV and video equipment. Some TVs use 30 watts on standby. Look at all devices that really don’t need to be used 24x7 such as pond pumps, dehumidifiers, any type of heater, lighting and so on.

Put energy monitoring smart plugs on fridges, freezers, washing machines, dryers and dishwashers. Use this data to plan how often you use them or decide if they need replacement. You may be surprised when you see the power usage of old fridges and freezers.

If you tumble dry over the winter and you have a budget, look at a heat exchanger dryer.

Finally - link your smart plugs to Amazon Alexa or Google. Much easier to switch things on and off with a voice command.

Check your smart monitor for which items are “always on” and switch them off when not in use

If you have smart valves on your radiators, reduce the temp by 1.5 degrees - you won’t notice the difference in temperature but will notice the difference in amount of energy used. And have fun in monitoring your savings! If you don’t have smart valves, invest in one at a time - they are so easy to install (I did this myself with no DIY experience!)

Invest in an air fryer - We have a dual air fryer and that really helps when cooking meals to bring the cost down (quicker and less energy!)

Turn off larger devices when not in use such as gaming and TV devices as well as lights and stove, etc

Our boiler room generates a lot of heat so in the winter, we use that to dry our laundry and keep the door open so it warms up our bedroom too.

Consider using a smart thermostat that can automatically lower your desired room temperature when you are out of the house and put it back up again when you return.
