why is it so late getting the daily report for the day before dual fuel, have to wait until late evening to see on the web report how much electricity I have used even though having a smart meter giving reports every half hour can never get a proper answer from OVO even though several times of asking.

I see my electricity data ‘as it happens’, either via my IHD or via my data gathering system (it’s called Home Assistant).

I do know that suppliers have a level of double checking that they generally apply to accounts as they are reporting a costed value for the supply.

I can’t answer your question, I’m afraid, but I can say that you’re not the only one frustrated by this ‘late arrival of the incoming data’. I have in recent months had sometimes to wait until midnight the following day to see usage data and/or meter readings, and in the past couple of weeks even experienced them not being there at all.

One clarification: the smart meter doesn’t ‘give reports every half hour.’ It does record each half hour’s usage, stores it together with a time stamp and keeps it safe for 13 months. OVO then sends a message to the meter once a day to ask it to return the previous day’s data, 48 time-stamped packets.

Thank you for your reply Firedog much appreciated, it is annoying that nobody at OVO is listening when people rely on that data to get an idea of what they should be doing the next day to possibly do what OVO beyond wants you to do think they ought to at least get it out as soon as possible not wait for the evening to do it !!!’

Hey @curtis

I appreciate your interest in your usage data! As an industry, we aim to find the right balance in how often we retrieve information to ensure we don’t overload the network. Your meter captures data every half hour, but that doesn’t mean it will show up on your account right away—it might take a day or two for everything to become visible.

It's great to see how engaged you are with your energy usage! You know what you want from your account, and that's so important for getting the most value for your money. We’re always looking for ways to speed things up, but there may be times when you need to wait just a little bit for the information to appear. Thank you so much for your patience!

I would say yes I wait patiently to get my last days reading but when you wait until the next day at approx 20.00hrs that seems excessive.. Your company ask me about your website and do I understand it the answer is NO when I have to wait so long to get my data, you used to do it at approx 08.44 every morning showing the day before I have tried several times through your bot and then to your representatives but to no avail. Getting it early in the morning to hopefully adjust that next day having just lost my wife 8 weeks ago I find myself getting consistently frustrated that nobody at OVO is listening I have just done a fixed deal for 2 years and feel that still not being listened to, also signed up for Beyond not sure why as don't get the data or cost I can see data on the loop app, but I would like to see it on my proper supplier hope you can understand frustration Beccause nobody else seems to.

It's noticeable for the past 2 or 3 years that for the week before, and the week after, an Ofgem cap change the data is slow arriving to your account.

Then it's OK for 3 months until the next one.

It's my belief that various teams (both at DCC but mainly at the suppliers) that normally deal with the SM data collection process are doing ‘extra’ tasks during those 2-weeks, so the data collection can be a bit delayed.

Thank you for your reply Nukecard, but in that 3 month period it hasn't changed they are still very late putting in the data from OVO Can't always say it is the other people. I have taken loads of snapshots of conversations with their representatives and not once have they said it is because of the suppliers of their data, thanks for your reply though much appreciated I will wait with baited breath to see if it gets better after the next 2 weeks otherwise I will try other avenues I will say LOOP app seems to get it ok daily so unsure why OVO can't.

Don’t forget that for gas to be priced accurately, suppliers have to wait for the ‘cv’ (calorific value) information to be provided by the gas transporter. That information is only released during the day after supply and so that’s another potential source of any additional delay - it is calculated daily and is different in various regions.

thank you BP Lightly, it doesn't seem to be that gas is slow coming it is the electricity which is missing that is my concern the gas is normally there in the morning showing the standing charge and also what has been used but electricity is always waiting that is why I started up this thread.

It might be worth pointing out that there is no direct link between this forum and your OVO account. The two sites - account.ovoenergy.com and forum.ovoenergy.com - have their own separate sign-in systems, each requiring a username and password. The username is usually an email address, but it doesn’t have to be the same one. More importantly, the passwords should not be the same.
