Is it currently possible to switch to an economy 7 tariff with OVO? I’m struggling to find any recent information about this as it seems like everything has come to a standstill with the impending October energy price rise.

Welcome to the OVO Online Community!
We don't currently have the capability to change smart meters from Single Rate to Economy 7, or vice versa. If this capability ever becomes available we’ll update the Forum accordingly so that everyone’s aware.
If you currently have a single rate meter it’s unlikely that you’ll benefit from an Economy 7 tariff. Economy 7 has a cheaper off-peak rate, but a more expensive peak rate. This only benefits customers who use a good chunk of the energy at night, and was designed for night-time storage heaters and immersion heaters that use a large amount of electricity during the night. Electricity users who don’t have this sort of set up will generally not benefit from Economy 7 due to the more expensive peak rate, as their usage will predominantly be in peak hours.
If a customer has an Economy 7 meter we can switch them to a single rate plan if they’re not using enough in the off-peak hours, eg if they have their storage heaters removed.

Thank you for your replies. The property does not have storage heaters. The electric boiler heats the radiators and the immersion tank.

Just a heads-up though - your meter will already need to be giving us both day and night readings and be configured for Economy 7 before you could move to one of these plans. If the meter hasn’t then you’d need to stay on a single rate plan and we can offer energy saving tips based on this.
