If you’re an OVO account holder, you can add other people to your account in two different ways:

Second named contact (not financially liable)

If someone is added to your account in this way, their name and contact details can be added, but they won’t be able to discuss anything related to the billing of an account, or make any changes to anything whatsoever. We’d only be able to discuss things in the most basic terms with them. If this person wanted to discuss the account holder’s bills, or make any changes, then they’d need to call us when they’re with the account holder, so we can pass security.

Second named contact (financially liable)

If we add someone as ‘financially liable’ on an account, they’ll be able to discuss all aspects of the account on behalf of the account holder, without us having to speak to them to get permission. The second contact would be able to discuss bills, payments, tariffs and meter changes, and would also receive copies of the bills. They’d also be liable to pay any bill outstanding, along with the account holder.

If your’e an OVO account holder and want to add someone to your account in either of these ways, please call us when you’re with them in person, so that we can pass security, and take full details.

The only way to give someone full control over all aspects of an account, without being named as financially liable, would be by adding them as Power of Attorney POA). Find out more about this process, and how to contact OVO in the guides below:

I want to add someone onto the bill as we share a flat and use our joint bank account to pay. Can someone please put step by step instructions on how to do this. As the link above doesn’t work.

Hey @Holly.g,

You'll need to make the person you'd like to add on, a financially liable account holder.

How do I add someone to my account so that they can speak to OVO too?
Hi @CC1

Just to summarise: to add a non financially liable person to the account, just call up, email (from the registered address) or pass the needed security checks via a forum PM with the details of the person you want added. To add a financially liable contact, do the same. We'll then need to get permission from the person added to make them financially liable.
Just to add, I've moved this topic to the 'All About OVO' forum, tweaked the title and added some tags, thereby (hopefully) making it easier for other users to spot.
Thanks,Tim

I've made the steps you need to follow bold.

Hope this helps!

You'll need to call in, @Holly.g, as mentioned above, the contact will need to be liable to be listed on a statement.

We need verbal consent from both parties. You'll need to ring up giving verbal permission to add a financially liable contact, the new contact will need to accept liability at the same time. You can reach our team on: 0330 303 5063. Our opening hours are 8am-6pm Monday to Friday.

I hope this clears things up ☺️
