My Solis Cloud App not displaying all data? Is my energy being detected correctly?

Hi, hope that you can help.

We had solar panels fitted yesterday with a battery.

i downloaded and setup the solis cloud app. This shows when the battery is charging or discharging but does not show any love input from the panels or the grid. Though in the case of the grid it shows an overall input amount. Do I need to play with the settings? Or have the sensors not been correctly set up?

Hi @Cope as I’ve mentioned earlier on this thread, it seems a common problem with the clamps which measure the current flow to be installed the wrong way around (they are ‘direction’ sensitive) and so this might be the cause. They look something like this near your meter and there should be two  

There’s an arrow on the side which is difficult to see but generally should point towards the meter.

Sorry- I don’t know much about the Solis Cloud App. 

 

We do have a few members I know who have Solar Panels who might have the App- @sylm_2000 @PeterR1947 @EverythingNeedsAUserName? They may have had a similar experience.

 

If not, it might be worth getting in touch with the installers.

Hi @Stuthesaint have you seen anything further on your system? I use solar PV myself and although not a Solis system, they are all pretty similar. 
There are a few in the forum who do have Solis and it seems that it is common for the current clamps (which detect energy being produced and used) to be installed back to front. 
Can you show a picture of what you see on the app? Perhaps we can help from there.

i wonder if you managed to solve this problem with the data you were seeing on the app. I have had Solar and a battery system fitting and seem to be having the exact same problem. I can see the battery charging/consumption and the energy the house is using but cannot see the PV yield or the import/export (see photo)

We bought a house with solar panels fitted (pre FIT removal) 4 years ago. In the last few weeks, we have had a 7.2 kWH battery and AC inverter fitted by Greenscape.

When I look at the Solis Cloud app I am puzzled by some of the traces and wonder if more experienced owners can explain what is going on. Below is a trace I

 screen-captured about 2 p.m. today.

 

 

See lower graphic showing traces of the various outputs. I am baffled by what happens after about 10 a.m. The sun was shining steadily then and the PV output was rising. As the battery was now fully charged (purple state of charge trace is at 100%) , I expected  the system would start exporting to the grid. But the orange load trace suddenly rises by about 1.5 kW to be in perfect sync with the yellow PV trace and remain there….this is complete nonsense! The load in the home was minimal at that time and in any case it would be a miracle if it followed the PV output exactly. Yet the top graphic seems to confirm that the load (1.63 kW) is just below the PV output (1.7 kW) 

The net effect is that because the home load is wrongly documented as always being within a few watts of the PV output, nothing is available to export and I am denied this FIT income!

Can anyone explain this, please?

Hi @SJC , as often happens, these measurement views can be quite complex. 
It looks to me as though your system is programmed to charge the battery overnight and then it is used until around 8am you have a short spike of usage. After this and towards 10am there is good generation but the battery SOC doesn’t respond until that 10am point - this could be the sign of an imbalance in the battery voltages. 
You then have some usage and this ‘appears’ to be maintained until almost 2pm. 
It would be useful to know what your energy consumption looks like (from a smart meter) over that time. Overall the stats of yield, charge etc look ok and if the last part of your graph doesn’t correspond to usage at that point, perhaps the system was exporting (from PV generation rather than the battery) but your measuring CT would (in that case) be pointing the wrong way.
Any export doesn’t necessarily apply to FIT (unless you are on a measured scheme) as FIT is generation of course.

What are you seeing @luciannae ?

I have noticed that for some inverters, Solis have issued a firmware update which has corrected readings and usage.
