Hi all, Could some kind person please explain to be if i am misunderstanding something here. When I use the OVO app or the web aplication (I get the same figures) if I compare the daily usage for a given day the figure is wildly different between the “Month” view; 13.11kwh  and “Day” view: 45.66kwh.

Please see the screenshots for 2nd Jan. This is not an isolated day, every day is similar in the disparity. My bill is based on the lower figure 13.11kwh and on top of that OVO then discount with the Heat Pump Tariff so the amount I pay becomes even less. If you compare the amount my Heat pump uses 30kwh and the daily consumption figure from our Solax inverter (44.52kwwh) it would seem the higher figure is the correct one. How is this possible, anyone got an explanation please?

Hi @EricofNB, thanks for clarifying this. I’d recommend raising this with our Support Team, as they’ll be able to report this to our IT team who can hopefully fix the issue. You’ll need to send them the screenshots and let them know which browser, device and app version you’ve been using. There won’t be a timescale for a fix I’m afraid but hopefully it won’t take too long. I’m happy at least to know that the issue is only with the month view, and that you can still see the correct data when you narrow it down.

Thank you for flagging this here, and we’d appreciate it if you could let us know how you get on if you contact Support. Have a great weekend 😁.

The Month view is populated with estimated figures. I expect the system is having trouble working out how much energy you’re consuming from the grid (which you have to pay for) and how much is coming from your PV array, compounded by having an HP tariff. Contact Support and ask for their help. It may be best to use webchat, where you’re able to upload screenshots illustrating the problem if they need them.

Is this behaviour the same now at the end of February?

Have you had your January bill? Or seen it on the website? Does it look at all reasonable?

Hi @EricofNB and a warm welcome to the OVO Forum.

Thanks for your post. On top of @Firedog’s helpful reply I recommend that you check your readings for the same day to see exactly how many Kwh’s were used that day, you just need to calculate the difference between the two readings a day apart. This will then show whether it’s the daily or monthly usage that’s wrong.

I could be incorrect here but, from looking at your screenshots, it looks like you may be using the web browser online account on a tablet / mobile? I’d recommend downloading the OVO App, as this should give you better compatibility with your device. It would also be useful to know if the same issue is present in the App. If you could let us know that would be great!

In the meantime here’s some helpful Forum topics 👇

Please note - we’re in the process of updating these topics with new info and screenshots - you may find that some of the screenshots don’t exactly match what you can see on your own app.

Hi Ben,

Thanks for your ideas. I have compared every day from 1st jan to this week and it is the daily figure that is correct, it corresponds very closely to our Solax figure and our Smart display. The disparity comes with the Month view. It is as if they lose 75% of my kwh, or they have a maximum daily limit of 14kwh.

By the way I do normally use the app but I tried the web browser just to eliminate an error on the app- Both the same however.

So here is a screenshot of a week in Jan. Cost is in pounds. OVO consumption is from the “Monthly” usage page downloaded to individual days. OVO Daily is from “Daily” usage page, they just bare no resemblance to one another. The final column is heat pump usage.

Hi Firedog, Thanks for your help. I don't think the solar is having an effect yet. In January we barely get any sun. This seems more of a software calculation issue. I was just looking to see if others have a similar issue. I suspect it is the Heat Pump Tariff, somehow they are mixing up the Vaillant data. But no amount of fiddling seems to match the numbers up.

Let’s not forget that the HP plan is a rebate for each kWh used by the pump. If billing is calculating the rebate on the basis of those ~13kWh figures, @EricofNB is going to be seriously out of pocket. It’s not just a cosmetic issue on the Usage pages.
