GivEnergy battery stops charging randomly, why?

I recently had a GivEnergy 9.5 battery installed to work with my solar panels. I am having difficulty getting the battery to charge manually via the app or online. I contacted GivEnergy and have been advised that there is an API ? in place with OVO and this may be stopping me setting a charge time to make use of my off peak periods (economy 10 with smart meter) I set it to charge manually for eg. 1 hour and it stops charging after about 10 mins 🤷‍♂️ Can anyone offer any advice please ?

I should add that OVO are not charging my battery at any time and I’ve had it now for two months. The only time it charges is when the sun shines ! which in the Highlands isn’t often at this time of year !

Have you signed up for battery boost yet?

I too am on Economy 10 so I would be interested in how it is resolved.

This will be our fist winter with solar and 15kwh of batteries

Good luck

Haven’t signed up for battery boost Kevin as I think I would lose the Economy 10 tariff off I  did, from what I’ve read you can’t have both together, however I may be wrong, I’m new to this !

Not sure if this is relevant but your mention of it charging for just 10 minutes might have something to do with this setting ???

Hi Kerr

I Would sign up to battery boost asap and you can use it with economy 10.

You will get charged 10p per kWh so a much cheaper tariff make sue you set the GivEnergy app to Eco and everything turned off.

I also get a SEG rate of 20p for each kWh

Kevin I’m on the old FIT tariff and think I would lose my fit payments, which are about £1k a year

I also have Dimplex Quantum storage heaters and don’t know how battery boost would work with them. The whole thing is very confusing. I don’t think I can revert back to FIT payments if I relinquish it for GEN payments
