Today, we’re sharing some important news about OVO.

We’re set to become part of E.ON, subject to regulatory approvals. Our Home Services business (including our boiler insurance and boiler servicing) will also be moving to Hometree, subject to regulatory approvals.

We know this is a big update, so we want to explain what it means for you and what happens next.

What does this mean for our customers

Right now nothing changes.

You don’t need to do anything. Your energy supply, your tariff, and the way you interact with us all stay the same. The same teams will continue to support you, just as they do today.

We’ll keep you updated as things progress, and we’ll let you know well in advance if anything is going to change.

Why we’re joining E.ON

We’ve spent the past 16 years building OVO into one of the UK’s leading energy suppliers, helping millions of customers use less energy, and make greener choices.

Looking ahead, we believe being part of a larger energy group like E.ON is the best way to keep building on that and continue improving what we offer to customers over the long term.

What happens next

Before anything changes, the sale needs to go through a regulatory approval process.

Until the deal completes, OVO and E.ON will continue to operate as separate businesses and everything stays as it is today.

When there are updates to share, we’ll be in touch with clear information about what it means for you.

Thank you

We know OVO matters to a lot of our customers, and we’re really proud of what we’ve built together over the years.

Thank you for being part of that.

Now you’ve made me look that up … Polish for puddle !! 🤭

So it is! You learn a little something every day ...

If we pedants delve a little deeper, we find Wikipedia´s description with appropriate illustrations:

Not too flattering a metaphor for an innovative software company in today’s Britain.

Can we call a halt to this tangential excursion, please?

I don't think that is pedantry but more like curiosity but that has been known to be fatal for felines.

Reducing my yearly fossil fuel usage with an EV (-900 litres petrol saving about £950/year), A2AHP (-8,700 kWh gas, cost neutral) and Timed Immersion heater (-1,500 kWh gas, £20/year more expensive but reducing as the gas price goes up)

Is there a reason why I received 16 emails about new comments in this thread, all of them today at 1:35pm? The newest comment here was posted seven days ago. I have realised that email notifications from the forum have it’s own sense of time.

Apolgies @costeek @HangNail999 ,

What’s happened is we’ve merged multiple duplicate threads into one main thread (this one) - so if you’ve received notifications its likely that you’ve interacted with this thread before.

If you head to the top of this article you should see an ‘unsubscribe’ option at the bottom of the article, which should stop you from receiving further notifications of any changes on an article you’ve interacted with historically.

Thanks,

I'm not lazy, I'm just in energy saving mode!

Up to a point, Lord Copper. Merging threads often leads to individual posts losing their context, because the merged thread is arranged so all posts, wherever they came from, are in chronological order. It doesn’t matter that much in this thread (although Pte Fraser’s response to LCpl Jones is now totally divorced from its parent), but it could easily lead to misunderstandings. It only really works if everyone makes a point of quoting what he’s replying to.

Not sure I got your point @Firedog. I understand what you mean, but how it relates to my question about receiving 16 emails? Bradley explained me the reason. And that made sense to me.
