Just started a six month tenancy - can I sign up to the 1 Year Fixed plan?

Hi,

I have just moved into a property and my tenancy is 6 months but the energy tariffs shown are all £101pm for 1 year. I have tried calling customer service but i keep getting cut off by the AI Bot. What do I do as i can’t speak to anyone?

If you move out of a property before the end of your fixed tariff with OVO, we will never charge an exit fee for this. Exit fees are only charged if you switch tariffs or switch suppliers whilst in your contract.

You need to set up an account in your own name because it will currently be in the name of the people who left.

(or in your landlords name - but landlords wouldn't take out a 1 year fix between tenancies).

Hopefully you can get through to someone to discuss your account. Most tariffs are based on the Direct Debit method of payment spread over a year. If you are likely only to be there for six months then is probably best to pay monthly on demand. That way you will only be paying for the energy you use during the time you are at the property. As you will likely be out once the winter months come along with higher energy use this may work best for you.

It was interesting to note in the guide that the SSE area was not included in the links to find your supplier. Hopefully phineso will be able to get their supply sorted out with the help from Nukecad.

Hey @phineso,

Welcome to the community!

Find details on available plans by entering your postcode at https://plans.ovoenergy.com/. The Simpler Energy plan has no exit fees, so monthly payers will face no issues, as @DavidWSR noted. Most plans are quoted based on annual costs; therefore, you can halve any quote received unless otherwise specified.

There’s also more information on our website at https://www.ovoenergy.com/home-energy-plans

I hope this helps!

Keep trying customer service, eventually you will get a person. My experience of these bots on other sites has been - When the bot can no longer get an answer to the range it helps a client with, it does offer a transfer to an agent. Living breathing person.
I hope you are able to get your account sorted.
please update the site when you resolve it.
