How to make best of 2 x 100A Supply and 1 x 3-phase 100A Supply in multi-use building

I am in urgent need of help and advice.

I currently have a 2 x 100A Supply into a mixed commercial/residential building and have just had a new 3-phase 100A supply installed, currently looking for a supplier to install meters.

The issue I have is that I may have a requirement for a 3-phase supply in either the new cafe or the new warehouse but my electrical contractor is advising me to split my new 3-phase supply on the 3 flats but that means I then have only 2 x 100A supply for the rest of the building. I really want to use the 3-phase supply to service both my warehouse and my cafe which may have some requirements for a 3-phase supply which I will not have from my residential flats.

If I keep my 3-phase supply can I split that supply between meters and allowing for diversity to run all of my appliances that require a heavier load from the 3-phase supply i.e, kitchen appliances and warehouse equipment.

Hi @Nigel Rushby , I had a similar situation recently with a site; a large Old Mill house which has a new 3 phase supply which was needed due to exceeding 100A on more than one phase. The rest of the site has various buildings including 2 holiday lets in process of construction.

The decision in consultation with the local DNO was to use an additional single phase supply for the holiday lets as it was more difficult to balance the load across the 3 phases already operating.

Hi @Nigel Rushby

Welcome to the forum, i am just a customer like you.

Have you already looked at getting a new single 100A supply for the third flat to keep things simple and flexible for the future, even if it involves more upfront cost?

I might be able to get some more advice if you can tell us what region you’re in. Most DNOs can give us forum volunteers some general (and sometimes targeted) advice for these things which we can relay to you.

I am in Great Yarmouth, Power Networks have installed a new 3-phase 100 Amp power supply. I have 4 new MPANs but having a problem getting a supplier to install new meters, they are asking me for the KVA for each meter before they will commit to supplying and then take weeks to install.
