Customer Services say that we’d need a new, multi-rate meter in order to switch to a dual-rate tariff, but they’re no longer being produced? New smart meters are being rolled out, and they’re single rate. Seems odd to me… Would other suppliers have a different answer?

Because the UK energy industry operates on UTC (Coordinated Universal Time, the current official name for Greenwich Mean Time) all year round, there are several pitfalls to be aware of when working out our energy usage and bills when suddenly a 23-hour day comes along. Here are some of them: Time of Use electricity tariffs Some customers will be on plans with different unit rates for different times of day. The simple example of this is Economy 7, which in much of the country charges a lower rate from midnight to 7AM. These timings change from region to region, but it's usual for them to be UTC times. This means that the cheap rate runs from 01:00 to 08:00 BST. Most modern equipment, including smart meters, will allow for this. Hello all OVO customer with OVO installed solar PV and battery (carried out by Gastech, model is a Solax Power) In the Solax app I often see arrows indicating my battery is being charged by the grid rather than by my panels. The figures also sometimes run into negative numbers, and my SEG payments exist but seem smaller than anticipated (Eg £20ish for Autumn) Pics attached - the meter I believe is the solar meter (bottom left, second pic) has a blinking red light. Is there anything obvious wrong here? Thanks

Hi. I'm currently on economy 7 tariff (didn't realise until recently) so got in touch with ovo to arrange for me to be put on a single tariff, however does anyone know why the change could take up to 35 working days (7 weeks) Is it worth waiting or would I be better off looking elsewhere?

Hey folks, and OVO tech, new to the forum and the first impression is that the tech has bugs (unusual as usually forums are run on third party software) Tried registering… thought it had worked yesterday but today was told had incorrect details (they were saved in Dashlane but let’s assume I got that wrong somehow). So I choose reset password … and then just get sent in an infinite loop where I am presented with the login screen again, then try and reset password and so on … repeat forever. Then I tried to create an account again but that just went to the login screen too Then weirdly I got an activation email a few minutes later. This stuff resonates with the experience on the Charge Anytime app and OVO app too, just feels like the initial experience is so poor, for a 2025 IT platform, that thought it worth commenting.

Hi there! I have received my warm home discount £150 voucher. It's telling me to take my voucher to my local post office as its come on the letter from Ovo. I want to know, do I take my pre payment key/card to the post office also??? Any information would be much appreciated!!

PLEASE can anyone help. My father has an old property with two separate meters, one for the day rate usage and one which is linked to a timeclock for his Night Storage Heaters. We used to be on an Economy 10 type tariff with SEE (The actual Tariff was called Standard and Off Peak Fx). SSE discontinued this tariff just as they moved across to OVO. The Night Rate Meter was actually removed from the national database by SEE so that we were only paying for our daytime electric usage (and not paying for any of the night rate - night storage heaters). I probably should have just been dishonest and left it at this and my father would have had free night electricity forever more ! However, I raised a complaint with the Energy Ombudsman which raged on for 2.5 years. OVO then agreed to put us back on an Economy 10 tariff and re-instate the Night Rate Meter on the national database (as it effectively no longer existed!). At 19.44 tonight we had a power cut here. Looking out the windows front and back over the town everything was off supply - and I only noticed because my house phone beeped and the screen lit up as mains power was removed. I was on my laptop so the battery took over seamlessly, I was watching video off a USB stick so wouldn't even have noticed the wifi dropping out, and the only light I had on was my rechargable wall lamp. At 19:51 Electricity North West 'Extra Care' sent a text that said it was cable damage and that 3186 properties were affected, they were sending engineers, and expected power to be restored by 22.44. At 20.01 ENW also rang my mobile with an automated message saying the same.10/10 for 'Extra Care' giving information by different methods, but that needs a rethink. Hello, I keep getting phone calls from the number 03330341574 which does not recognise as anything. The first two times they phoned I did not answer, but looked the number up online and read that people had found it was a scam number pretending to be OVO collections. Googling OVO collections also gives a different contact. They didn't email me like they usually would after missing a call so I did think it was a scam. I also asked the live chat about the number and they said OVO hadn't attempted to contact me. The third time I phoned back and it was an automated voice saying it was OVO collections and asking me to move to WhatsApp..? Does anyone know if this number is a genuine OVO contact? I don't want to be avoiding them if it is. Thanks!

Hi, we just moved over to economy 9 from THTC on 5th Feb. I was looking at the new meter, I noticed two little contacts in bottom right corner and one of them does not make contact? Im sure I read somewhere on here someone else had this problem and it affected their billing? Help please.

I am posting my views with complete respect for the views of others who have posted, especially Nukecad, who goes the extra mile to help those who ask questions. These are my views but I welcome evidence based arguments that support or contradict what I believe. Such feedback is healthy and helps us all understand things better. However, until there is a binding court ruling on who, between a landlord and an occupying tenant is liable for electricity charges in a rental property with just one supply meter, then all anybody giving guidance can do on this forum is offer advice based on their experience or what they believe is correct. IMHO, the problem landlords and tenants have is that the Utility Companies, and the Energy Ombudsman service, work together to set the agenda to suite themselves. I have been told by OVO that I need to have a smart meter installed as my key meter is faulty. An OVO engineer visited my home and told me that the earth to my meter is in the wrong place and has to be moved before a new meter can be installed. I contacted an electrician from my local authority and he said that the meter has a tamper proof seal on it at that point and that it can only be removed by OVO. I contacted OVO today to inform them and sent them the picture below showing the tamper proof seal. OVO said that this was not installed by them and that I had to get the job done by an electrician. As I have already been told by the contractor for my local housing authority this is the responsibility of OVO I’m now stuck. I’m unlikely to be able to get an electrician to come out at the same time as an OVO engineer for various reasons.
