Faulty electric blanket

Hiya, I very gratefully received the electric blanket as I have MS, however I've only used it twice and for no longer than 2 hours each time, and it wont turn on at all anymore. Can I contact ovo about this? Thank you.

Thanks for tagging me here @Blastoise186.

Good morning @Gemstonecat and welcome to the OVO Forum. I’ve sent you a private message on the Forum, have a read and get back to me when you can - we’ll get a replacement sorted for you.

I've also heard back from the team that the blankets have a safety feature where, once they cut out on the timer, they need to be unplugged and plugged back in to be turned on again. Not sure whether this has affected yours, and we're still sending you one, but I thought I'd let you know just in case

As you’ve mentioned you have MS, I’d recommend signing up to the Priority Services Register if you haven’t already. This is a free service with numerous benefits. If you sign up, you’ll be contacted by the National Grid where possible to let you know of incoming power outages and, if you do go off supply during a power outage, they’ll look to get your property back on with priority.

You can find out more, and sign up, here: https://www.ovoenergy.com/register-for-priority-services.

They are not meant to get snywhere near as warm as an electric blanket for your bed does.

They are meant to be used when sitting or reclining on a chair or couch, just pulled around you or laid over you.

Have a look at the pictures here:

@Abbs51 I can’t speak for the OVO-supplied ones, as I don’t have one myself. I do have a very similar electric throw though, and it doesn’t get that warm even when on the max setting of ‘9’.

I can speak for the OVO ones as I’ve got two versions myself.

The one from Purple Chameleon (roughly 2023) gets somewhat warm when you crank it to max, but the one from Exertis (2025) runs a bit cooler. The idea is really more a “top-up” than it is anything else.

If you find yourself getting absolutely desperate and you don’t mind spending a bit of money, stuff like Fourth Element X-Core, Fourth Element j2 and Fourth Element Arctics help a ton with my diving and can basically make just about anyone toasty (they’re designed for Antarctica after all!). If you’d rather not spend the money on Arctics, there are cheaper alternatives out there that work reasonably well and you can probably find a few divers selling their old sets on eBay (they’re machine washable too!). Caution: this stuff is crazy overpowered, please don’t sleep while wearing it as you risk overheating.

Admittedly, Arctics aren’t exactly fashion statements and will turn you into a generic black-clad ninja, but just about nothing beats them if your goal is to keep warm without racking up huge heating bills.

Hey @Jessyboo4,

I’ve combined your topic with this thread so we can keep all our conversations about electric blankets together. You’ll find some troubleshooting steps in the best answer of the post. If those don’t do the trick, just let me know, and I’d be happy to help arrange a replacement blanket for you 😊
