What is the best EV charger for OVO Charge Anytime?

Buying a Citroen ec4 soon and need a home charger for it. Looking at the Ohme Home Pro or Indra but not sure which is best. I like the looks of the Indra, and the fact it has wifi connection, but reviews suggest the app and connectivity is difficult. The Ohme seems to have good reviews but I'm put off by it needing 4G to connect and after 3 years paying for the sim....I can't see any info on how much this will cost eventually. Anybody have experience of either charger? Also how does preconditioning work with Charge Anytime.....does it need to be actively charging to do this, or will it just work if you set it in the app, and will this still be on the 7p tariff?

All good so far, though it took a day or two for the SIM mobile network connection to locate & settle in. Unknown as to what, if any, charges will occur after the 3Y period with Ohme. You could probably make a similar comment about a possible charge for wifi access to data servers

The Ohme app works fine (no jinx, please), as long as I make the first connection via the Kia Connect app, to refresh the API credentials, I guess. The app also updated to show the new, lower charging rate for Charge Anytime

You’ve got a few options:

• Indra
• Hypervolt
• Zappi
• Andersen
• evec
• NexBlue

All of these are compatible. Hypervolt has so far proven to be the most reliable, but you’re welcome to explore all of them.

First time I looked they were all not available subject to completion of Beta Testing. This note has now been removed.

I have a Jaguar iPace EV400. This vehicle is not listed on the Compatible Charge Anytime EVs or Beta EVs smart chargers list.

I suspect the most likely reason some of the supported Chargers aren’t on OVO’s storefront yet is probably either because there’d be too many on there, OR because OVO hasn’t yet negotiated a deal with the manufacturers to become a reseller.

You can definitely still order from the manufacturers directly or other resellers though! OVO Charge Anytime doesn’t require you to order via OVO but you can if you want to - it’s just an option OVO provides to make things a little more integrated.

To clarify, I have only contacted the OVO supported chargers.

It looks like it would be cheaper for me to change my power supplier rather than the EV Charger, to one compatible with a low rate tariff for a Jaguar iPace.

Be careful about that - many of the other cheap charging offerings define the entire tariff. Unlike the others Charge Anytime is an Add-On that can be attached to any OVO tariff and you can tariff hop freely whilst keeping the cheap charging.

Make sure to properly run the numbers first.
