Volvo EX40 2026 Cannot charge car using Volvo App with Hypervolt Pro 3 Charger

Have had numerous issues, multiple chats/calls with OVO CA team, with charging Volvo EX40. Had OCA app and Volvo app car charged fine but was being double billed as running via both OCA and Volvo app. Instructed to remove OCA app and only charge via Volvo app which is connected to charge anytime for 7p kwh rate. Now car will not charge at all even though in Volvo App shows plugged in and ready for scheduled start, wake up 0% added. Now trying to establish if have Hypervolt charger in Plug & Charge or Scheduled mode (no schedule added as set in Volvo app), any help please?

Steve, is you volvo giving you the message (in the Volvo app) that manual scheduling is not possible when smart charging is active (in grey half way down the screen?

Oddly, in car when I look at the main screen, there is an option to adjust the scheduling.

Checklist:

OVO EV app deleted

Volvo linked to main OVO account (to get 7p)

Hypervolt app installed - no schedules, linked to the OVO account

Volvo app installed, volvo app tells me that OVO is still controlling scheduling

What i’m wondering is if the Hypervolt app needs deleting too?

In short this is a mess and like you I’m ready to leave OVO over this.

The hypervolt charger was checked in a call I had with them, full diagnostics, essentially in this set up the charger is dumb and simply needs to be unlocked and plugged in and is ready to go…. The charging ‘SHOULD’ be managed by the Volvo via there app and set to smart schedule paired with OVO CA to secure cost effective charging i.e. 7p kwh…. Clear issue is non compatibility with the Kaluza platform / Volvo / OVO….. Mine resolved now but looks very messy in the OCA app re charges and cost but have been assured this is just visual and actual billing is in line with 7p kwh when end of month credit applied….

Have had better engagement finally from OVO via email including tech team, latest set up to trial (not done yet) is:

OCA App linked to Volvo only (no charger)

Hypervolt app charger set to Plug & Charge mode

Volvo app linked to OVO account and in smart charge mode ready by 0600

They reset everything so had to log back in and set up as above both OCA app and Volvo app.

Cool, and on volvo within volvo app set to smart charge finish by xx:xx? When i tried this bizarrely got 1.5 hrs from 1030-1200 and again from 0400-0530, smart charge in volvo app set to finish/vehicle ready at 0530. Believe vehicle went into sleep mode was feedback from hypervolt.

The Volvo app wont allow me to schedule so I’ve had to do from the car. The Volvo app will allow me to do an urgent charge though. This is so messed up!

Think I am almost there, OVO have had Kaluza reset everything, then starting from scratch:-

Volvo App - Link to OVO account when done can see in Volvo app that OVO ac linked press charging button and then under info (i) button displays OVO (assumed PAYG charge anytime already added as an extra in OVO account)

Volvo App - Set smart charge on and select time to be ready

OCA App - In devices only link the vehicle (NOT the charger)

Hypervolt - Set in Plug & Charge mode (NOT any schedule etc)

Important that for Volvo/OVO/Hypervolt address matches the billing address for OVO account.

This set up means that Volvo controls charging and not OCA or Hypervolt.

Hey, Its not working for me. In the Volvo app there is an advert to link OVO with Volvo. I noticed today after failing about 20 times to connect over a month, that it says Charge Anytime. and not OVO Charge. maybe this link is out of date for the old system????? Perhaps thats why I cant get it to link up. Ca you investigate please. I am still waiting for you to call me back by the way as you promised after me spending an hour on the line with you a few days ago. XC60 REMEMBER? I did get it to charge a few times last month with the Charge anytime but I cancelled that because it looked like you had moved to this OVO Charge pay as you go. I only charge at home. I only want to charge off peak.. I can only charge through the nexblue point charger app if I plug in after about 11.30pm. Otherwise the car goes to sleep. Then I have to check it at about 3am to see if it has started charging or not. If it has not I have to get up, go outside in the street, unplug the car and plug it back in again! I am as a result getting tired and stressed which makes me very grumpy. Hope to hear from you very soon.

Good morning @Crikey and a warm welcome to the OVO Forum.

A couple of things to confirm before we go ahead - I’ve added the EV badge to your Forum profile so that other members can recognise the kit you own, and I’ve made this a brand new thread, as it may help others who are in the same position.

I’m sorry to hear of the issues you’re having, and for any missed call backs. Please note, we don’t have access to your account at all on the OVO Forum. This is a community where members can help each other find answers to questions, but your account can’t be directly accessed. For this query, you’ll need to contact the Charge Anytime team directly, so that they can access your account, and see what’s going wrong here. They can be reached via email at chargeanytime@ovo.com.

I will report this internally myself, and will let you know if I hear back before you do. When you speak to the team, please let us know how it goes on this Forum thread, and let us know if you have any other questions. Hopefully this can be resolved ASAP.

Update. I have deleted all apps and reinstalled again. Sorry, the Volvo app and the OVO charge app. I did the Volvo app first.  Finally I am able to charge the car again. Something  had changed since previous attempts so I guess you may be doing something behind the scenes. I then did the OVO charge app. It's not easy to remember exactly the order of events with this app but I tried to join it two ways. One was  from the Volvo app where I think I was able to find the correct make and model of car in the list to add. XC60 after 22 or something. I added my credentials, OVO account I think. It takes more than 2 go's of adding the exact same credentials before it recognises them. Volvo then sends me a  2 factor password via email which I completed. Then it says all connected wait 15mins to get you info in to the app. You can leave this page. Wait 15mins, hour, day, week nothings changed. The Volvo app does not appear to be connected to OVO from either Volvo side or OVO charge side.  Still appears to offer the option to connect to the OVO app in the Volvo app under electric lifestyle. Now looking from the OVO app There is history in there from last month when I first managed to connect it and got a charge anytime contract for a month. Did not know what I was doing. I cancelled the charge anytime which finishes the end of the month July. We are now August. As I only charge at home I thought the pay as you go tarrif was more applicable at 14p rather than 15p on the charge anytime. I only want to charge at night and at home. In the OVO charge app it asks if you wish to connect a device. Yes. Now my Volvo is listed in the next window. I have added it before somehow. So. I select connect to this device

Side note. This is a new download of the charge app and I cleared all cookies on my phone and logged out of all accounts after deleting the app and before down loading it again. So I try to follow the add connected vehicle and it fails. If it try to add a new device either car or charger. The car model year is not listed to add and the charger while being listed gives the failed message every time. I hope this makes the position clear. I have spent hours on try to do this. HELP HELP HELP!

@Crikey thanks for confirming all of this. I’ve been speaking to the Charge Anytime team behind the scenes, and they’ve requested that I pass on your account number to them so that they can contact you directly. I’ve sent you a private message - please get back to me when you can.
