Volvo EX40 2026 Cannot charge car using Volvo App with Hypervolt Pro 3 Charger

Have had numerous issues, multiple chats/calls with OVO CA team, with charging Volvo EX40. Had OCA app and Volvo app car charged fine but was being double billed as running via both OCA and Volvo app. Instructed to remove OCA app and only charge via Volvo app which is connected to charge anytime for 7p kwh rate. Now car will not charge at all even though in Volvo App shows plugged in and ready for scheduled start, wake up 0% added. Now trying to establish if have Hypervolt charger in Plug & Charge or Scheduled mode (no schedule added as set in Volvo app), any help please?

Steve, is you volvo giving you the message (in the Volvo app) that manual scheduling is not possible when smart charging is active (in grey half way down the screen?

Oddly, in car when I look at the main screen, there is an option to adjust the scheduling.

Checklist:

OVO EV app deleted

Volvo linked to main OVO account (to get 7p)

Hypervolt app installed - no schedules, linked to the OVO account

Volvo app installed, volvo app tells me that OVO is still controlling scheduling

What i’m wondering is if the Hypervolt app needs deleting too?

In short this is a mess and like you I’m ready to leave OVO over this.

The hypervolt charger was checked in a call I had with them, full diagnostics, essentially in this set up the charger is dumb and simply needs to be unlocked and plugged in and is ready to go…. The charging ‘SHOULD’ be managed by the Volvo via there app and set to smart schedule paired with OVO CA to secure cost effective charging i.e. 7p kwh…. Clear issue is non compatibility with the Kaluza platform / Volvo / OVO….. Mine resolved now but looks very messy in the OCA app re charges and cost but have been assured this is just visual and actual billing is in line with 7p kwh when end of month credit applied….

@stevec000 / @salarygirl Charge Anytime have told me this:

They've either linked via their Hypervolt, their Volvo or Both. They'd only need to link one to get Ovo Charge. If one way isn't working we'd try the other. If there's an issue with the Volvo app not scheduling we can unlink so that Volvo can get that working and then set up again after. Probably best to direct them to us to work out whats going on.

If you get back in touch with Charge Anytime please do keep us updated on this thread as to your progress.

Fingers crossed they can get to the bottom of this for you ASAP 🤞.

I am now running from the OCA app, Volvo still linked to OVO CA, I still get 7p rate and smart charging turned off in volvo and no manual schedule either. So OCA is driving the charging (smart charging with vehicle ready by xxxx), worked last night, so will continue. No call back yet from OVO CA team either but had email confirming all ok re getting 7p rate etc, still really frustrated at incorrect statements and guidance on how to fix this various mixed messages which just tells me there is an issue and no one knows how to fix it, this been going on since Day 1 over 4 weeks ago and having spent £1150 on OVO charger installation, not one part of this involved a training/intro session on how to use and set up app etc. I am lucky, work at JLR ironically on hv batteries and charging but the Volvo is my partners car (no experience with EV’s or charging). So much to improve for OVO :(

@stevec000 I’m glad to hear it’s working now, albeit not visually pleasing.

Please could you let me know exactly what is looking messy in the Charge app? I’ll feed this back to our Product teams. Thank you.

I am double charged in the app, been informed visual issue only, for the same charge albeit of course only using 1 amount of electricity which I will be charged for and at rate of 7p KwH. I have still had no call from anyone, as promised 3 days ago, only e-mails again asking for all the same information and ironically reminding me not to delink my Volvo app from OVO charge anytime else I will not get the 7p KwH deal :(.

Same charge but billed x2 in app

I got a charge last night - frustrated that this setup means I dont have the OCA so cant see billing information. That in itself is probably an OFGEN red flag.

current set-up is therefore

No OCA

Hypervolt app running passively

Volvo app wont let me schedule charge sessions but will let me over-ride charging

Volvo car will allow me to schedule charging sessions

Basically a mess that sort of works. Honestly OVO you should be ashamed.

@salarygirl what setting do you have on the hypervolt app, plug and charge or scheduled (no schedule set of course)… I tried both settings in hypervolt app but could not get car to charge (set on smart charge in volvo app, linked to ovo account, to finish at 0530).

Looks to be plug and charge “starts when plugged in”

Cool, and on volvo within volvo app set to smart charge finish by xx:xx? When i tried this bizarrely got 1.5 hrs from 1030-1200 and again from 0400-0530, smart charge in volvo app set to finish/vehicle ready at 0530. Believe vehicle went into sleep mode was feedback from hypervolt.

The Volvo app wont allow me to schedule so I’ve had to do from the car. The Volvo app will allow me to do an urgent charge though. This is so messed up!
