Ovo Charge app not refreshing and Zappi not in MNGD mode anymore

Ovo Charge App won't refresh?

Not used my car for a few days and went to plug in to charge just now.

There's something strange going on - my Ovo Charge app says the car isn't plugged in and if I try and refresh the app it doesn't update. Says the last update was the 10th September.

If I look at the Zappi charger and go through the menus, although it is showing Eco++ at the bottom of the display screen, there are lots of menu options I can now view that I couldn't before - for example, usually if I click on the Preconditioning section it would say something along the lines of 'Not available whilst in MNGD mode' but now I can access a good few more options such as this that used to be locked out, without that message appearing.

It's almost like the Zappi isn't talking to Ovo's servers and has reverted to 'dumb' mode.

I've tried signing out and back into the app, didn't work. Tried deleting the app then reinstalling it and then signing in - still nothing. I've also rebooted the Zappi but no joy either.

Just tried unplugging the car, waiting a bit then plugging back in and now the Zappi is showing some sort of 'Boosting' mode which I've never seen before, and the car is now charging although I guess at full daytime rate rather than the Ovo Charge 14p per kWh.

If I look in the Myenergi app, it's the same - loads of options now in there that were not available before?

Anyone else having similar issues?

How do I get my Zappi back into MNGD mode and talking to the Ovo servers and how do I get the App to refresh and connect again?

Hey @Tango 22,

Here are a few suggestions you can try before reaching out to the Charge Anytime team:

1. First, check to see if your app is updated to the latest version on your device.

2. Make sure that the software/firmware for your vehicle and charger is up to date.

3. If you're still having trouble, try uninstalling the OVO Charge app and then downloading it again. This will give you a fresh version and help clear up any pesky bugs.

4. Also, double-check that you’re logging in with the correct email! We’ve seen some customers accidentally use an email that doesn’t match their Myzappi app profile.

If you’ve tried all these steps and still need help, don’t hesitate to reach out to our Charge Anytime team.

Hi, thanks for your reply.

I’ve logged out of the app and logged back in again to no avail. I’ve also deleted the app and downloaded the latest version then logged into that, still didnt work.

My email address for my Ovo Portal is the same as the email address in the MyEnergi app. What is the MyZappi app?

The wifi connection to the Zappi appears to be fine, I can see its connected in the MyEnergi app and I can still charge the car, albeit at full rate and not using the green slots Ovo Charge uses. The wifi connection shows ‘Connected’ on the Zappi screen and I have for good measure, clicked on ‘Reboot Wifi’ on the Zappi screen menus and it connected back up immediately.

It appears that the Ovo Charge app itself cant/wont connect to Ovo servers as its still showing it last updated on 10th September. I have again tried to refresh it using the ‘Refresh’ button within the app but it still shows it last updated on 10th September.

Lastly, when I login to the Ovo Charge app, it doesnt ask me to login via email and a password - instead a box pops up asking me to enter a six digit authentication code which Ovo send to my mobile phone number, which I do and logs me in. There doesnt seem to be a way to login to the actual Ovo Charge app other than via a mobile number.

If I go into my profile within the Ovo Charge app there is a box under my name and above my phone number which says ‘Add Email’ but if I try entering the same email I use for all Ovo logins it says its sent a ‘Magic Link’ to the email address to verify it but I never receive the Magic Link, its not in my spam folder either.

This is all very frustrating and the bizarre thing is the whole setup has been working fine since it was all installed a year ago. I’ve not changed anything regarding email addresses, passwords etc for either the Ovo Charge app or the MyEnergi app, yet all of a sudden the Ovo app has decided to stop communicating with the Ovo servers.

Any further assistance you can provide would be helpful.

Okay, I'm a bit further forward now. What I did was went into the Ovo Charge app to the Devices section and removed the Zappi charger. Then added it again.

The Ovo Charge app is now updating/refreshing as it should and in the MyEnergi app it's showing that the Device is managed by Ovo and telling me I need to use the Ovo Charge app - all the MyEnergi options are now gone (as they should be and were previously before the issues all started).

However, when I look at the screen on the actual Zappi, it's still showing as ‘Eco++’ at the bottom of the main screen whereas previously it was showing ‘MNGD’ (again, which it should). The MyEnergi app is telling me the charger is now managed by Ovo but the MNGD isn't showing on the Zappi.

I can't seem to work out how to get it to show as MNGD. I haven't plugged the car in as yet, which is my next step, to see what happens.
