Mercedes / Charge Anytime Beta Pilot Update

Updated on 30/06/26 by Chris_OVO

To update all Forum Members who are part of the Mercedes Beta Pilot:

Thank you to everyone who’s given feedback about the Charge Anytime pilot for Mercedes. We’re really sorry about the issues that some people are experiencing, such as the 50% charging problem. We’re working hard on resolving them, and we’ll share any new developments on the Forum as soon as we have them.

If the issues you’re facing are making you feel that the Charge Anytime add-on isn’t right for you at this stage, you can opt-out of the pilot while we work on improvements.

To opt-out of the Mercedes Beta Pilot:

  • Open the OVO Charge app
  • Click on the "Account" tab in the bottom right
  • Click on the User icon in the top left
  • Click the "Delete account" link
  • Select a reason for leaving and click "Continue"

Your app account will now be deleted and there will be no further connection or interaction between your car and the OVO system. Please note that you’ll still be credited for any smart charging you’ve done up to this point. For more information, you can also check out the Charge Anytime Beta Terms and Conditions here.

Thanks for your response Chris. I have already contacted them. The upshot was this:

Business said: Hi there, I have spoken with our operations team regarding this and they advised other than the troubleshooting steps you have already tried you could try removing the car and readding it to the charge anytime app.

Other than that as this car is in beta trial it is part of our terms and conditions that you experience charging issues.

If you don't wish t continue with the product as you were previously an ohme customer we could waive the exit fees on your account to allow you switch to another provider that could give you low EV rate.

Sorry but this is not acceptable. Reluctantly Ive had to switch to Eon at higher kwh rates!

This is actually how beta stuff works - it is NOT guaranteed to work perfectly. However, that line should actually say this:

Other than that as this car is in beta trial it is part of our terms and conditions that you may experience charging issues.

Agreed but it would have been nice if they had shown the remotest bit of interest. It had worked fine for nearly 4 months, even as Beta you would think they could have investigated it further.

Hey @archercj

You’re absolutely right! The team could have done better, and I’ll definitely share your feedback with them. I understand how frustrating it can be when things don’t go smoothly, especially when you’re looking for solutions. I’m really sorry this isn’t the news you were hoping for, and I wish you all the best with E.on!

We'd love for you to stay on the Forum! We have lots of friendly members from various suppliers, and we’re all here to help each other. Whether you’re looking to learn more about the energy industry, your own accounts, or digital solutions like electric vehicles (EVs) and heat pumps, we’re here for you!

I have a Mercedes Benz EQC connected to a home Ohme charging point. When Ovo notified that compatibility via the Ohme App was finishing i went through the instructions and successfully set it up so that the Ovo Charge Anytime App managed the smart charging. All worked fine from Jun - 4th September. Then a couple of days ago I noticed that despite having charges successfully several times from the 4th September there was no details of it being a Smart Charge.

I decided to take the following steps:

 - deleted the cars profile in the ovo charge anytime app and sucessfully recreated it

 - deleted the charge anytime app and installed the new Avo Charge App - then went through the process of successfully recreating the car profile in the new app

 - removed my Ohme account and recreated it

Nove of this has made a difference. The App correctly tells me it has communicated with the car and displays the mileage remaining but depsite plugging the charger in I get a ‘Plug in this EV to begin charging’ (I also reinstalled the old app and this sticks at trying to locate car.

I have noticed someone has also posted this issue on the Facebook page (they have an Audi not a Mercedes). I’m a bit annoyed that for nearly 3 weeks, and without any warning, Ive been charging up regulallry at the full rate and not the charge anytime much lowered rate. At the moment I am not charging the car to try and rectify this,

Has anyone else encountered this and been able to rectify it please.

Do you have the 'remote package' activated on your car?

I had to activate this and now paying the monthly fee it, for the car to communicate and send its location to the CA app.
