I have both our cars on the charge anytime app. Each time I start charging I have to add another electric vehicle as otherwise charging doesn't start. This cannot be right!

I also have two account numbers!

Howdy @Snootyooty ,

You might want to let the Charge Anytime team know via chargeanytime@ovoenergy.com .

They can dig the logs and figure this out with you.

Hi @Snootyooty,

I’m sorry to hear that you’re having trouble with your Charge Anytime app. Please let us know if you’re having any trouble getting through to the team for help.

I’ve also added an EV badge to your profile as you’ve mentioned having an electric vehicle. This helps other community members with green tech to identify you.

Thank you Shads_OVO. I will contact the team today.

It was all working fine with two EVs set up and added to one account but then I noticed I’d been logged out of Anytime and upon going back in there were no longer any cars registered. It is now cycling continually between charging and not charging. What’s gone wrong?

ID3 and Cupra Born

Howdy @Chimaera500 ,

Usually in these cases the Charge Anytime team will need to dig the logs to figure this out. I’m really sorry, but this isn’t a power held by Forum Volunteers such as myself.

Give chargeanytime@ovo.com or 0330 175 9678 (option 2) a try! They’ll be able to dig this one.

Hi @Chimaera500,

I’m sorry to hear this.

I can see that some good advice has already been given by one of our forum volunteers. If you’re unable to get through to the team on the number provided please let us know so we can see if we’re able to help further.

Hi all.

I currently use charge anytime with my wifes Cupra Born and have no issues.

However, Im looking at buying a Volvo C40 and this car isnt compatible with charge anytime currently.

I have a standard Rolec charger.

If I change to an Ohme charger that on the ovo approved list, will both cars then be able to use charge anytime?

Its a total pain to have to change chargers and pay the associated ££££, but I cant see any other choice.

Hi,

Yup, that’s possible - but you’ll need to get the Charge Anytime team to help with switching over the settings - 0330 175 9678 should do the trick.

Hey @Kugaman1

As Blastoise186 has already mentioned that would certainly be the way to go about having more than 1 EV where at least 1 wasn’t on our compatible EV list - so long as your charger is on our compatible list, you can charge any car you like.

There’s also a couple of other topics related to having 2 EVs on Charge Anytime, I’ve linked to these below if you decide to go ahead with that change they should come in handy:

I have an Indra Pro. I’ve been using for about 18 months now. I’m baffled about how best to us. 🙃

I have a Tesla Model 3.

This is how I use:

  • Connect charger to Tesla
  • Click Boost on the Indra charger
  • Check the Ovo Anytime Charge app to see if the hours for charging will mean I get charging immediately or not

On the last point above… let’s say the current schedule is ‘ready by 3am’. If I’m at 10% and it’s 5pm and I connect the charger to charge… it will charge for 2 min and stop. I’ll come back and 7pm say, when I need to travel - only to find the car hasn’t charged. 😕

ALSO we are getting a second car for the wife. After a LOT of questioning and deep digging and quizzing relentlessly Ovo support, I’ve been told that as long as the Indra charger is connected to Ovo via Wifi then I can charge as many cars as I like.

[Currently, my Tesla is connected to Ovo - I won’t be able to connect the new car, a Nissan Leaf to Ovo. In any case, only one car can be connected to Ovo at anytime - so that doesn’t work.]

Is there a better and easier way to to charge?

Surely there is?

Indra have their own controls for scheduling charge. Tesla also have controls for scheduling charge. This all adds to the complexity.

Thanks.

Hi @sparkengine ,

There’s a better solution I can give you - use the Charger with Charge Anytime instead! If you are currently integrated via the Tesla, please follow the steps below. If you’re currently integrated via the Charger, you don’t need to do anything. To help me figure out which one you’re on, please show me screenshots from your Charge Anytime app.

To do this, please delete your Charge Anytime account and rebuild it using the Indra Charger rather than your Tesla. Please disable and delete ALL schedules from absolutely everywhere before you connect up again though - everything must be running on a flat basis. Once you reconnect, you must manage schedules purely via the Charge Anytime app - nowhere else.

Once you’ve hooked up via the Charger, you can run whatever EV you want that way and it’ll just work. Even if the app thinks you’re primarily using a Tesla, that’s fine - as long as the Charger is integrated rather than the EV, both the Tesla and Leaf will work fine.

If you still get stuck, there’s a dedicated team on 0330 175 9678 or chargeanytime@ovo.com

Remember, you must set the schedules up based on when you actually want to use the vehicle - if you need to use it sooner, move the Ready By time so that charging commences faster. The two minutes charging before it pauses however, is expected behaviour once CA takes over.

If you need the vehicle ready by 7pm, you’ll need to set the Ready By time to 7pm - setting it to 3am means it won’t get much juice between 5pm and 7pm for example (and that’s intentional to avoid the evening peak hours!).

Morning @sparkengine,

Welcome to the OVO Forum! I’ve added your EV badge to your profile 😁.

I can see @Blastoise186 has helpfully suggested that you go through the charger for Charge Anytime rather than through the vehicle. I don’t have an EV myself but from what I have seen working for OVO it seems like it’s a lot smoother to go through the charger, and this also allows you to use multiple vehicles with Charge Anytime.

let us know if you decide to go down this route. I’ll include some other helpful Forum posts below that should be of use to you 👇

If you’ve got any further questions give us a shout! Cheers 😁.

I've got a VW id7 and have Ovo Charge Anytime setup and working via integration with the car.

My parents are also Ovo customers so when I arrive there, with an almost empty battery, it would be great if I could charge there using the Charge Anytime, so they benefit from the EV rate.

Is it possible to set up this integration to a completely separate Ovo account in another location?

Thanks,

Nigel

Howdy @NigelE !

If your parents are able to run Charge Anytime via their Charger (as in Andersen, Hypervolt, Indra, EVEC or Nexblue) then sure thing! ANY EV they plug in will get the Charge Anytime rates.

Otherwise, I’m afraid you won’t be able to do that - integrating via the vehicle is only possible at one location at a time.

Morning @NigelE,

I can see @Blastoise186 has already answered your question, but I just wanted to jump in and welcome you to the OVO Forum 😁. Just to let you know I’ve added an EV badge to your Forum profile so that other members can recognise you. If your parents do use Charge Anytime through a compatible charger, rather than through the EV, then this topic should be helpful to you:

I also want to direct you to our Charge Anytime topic hub, where you can find a lot of handy articles and FAQ’s for future use:

If you or your parents have any more questions in future feel free to give us a shout!

Hi

I currently charge my Volvo XC40 on charge anytime. The model is not available in the CA app so I use the Volvo app as instructed by OVO - all works fine since OHME stopped compatibility.

We are getting a Tesla model Y in a few days.

How do I add it to CA without disrupting the Volvo? Do I download the CA app and use that?

Also, just to be complicated, the car is my wife’s name who is not on the OVO account (my name only). I understand the Tesla app plays a role and the car owner name in the app must match the OVO account name - is this correct?

I’ll probably be added as a user in the Tesla app so hopefully that will suffice.

I’d be grateful for some guidance on what to do so we can enjoy the cheaper tariff when it arrives.

Thanks

Hey @frictionwheel

Welcome to the community, i’ve assigned an EV badge for your profile.

You must be excited to get your new car and start adding those miles! The new EV shouldn't interfere with your current Volvo, which is connected to Charge Anytime. I've included a couple of articles below that will provide you with more information.

I’ve not heard anything about the names having to match but you can call our Charge Anytime support line on 0330 175 9678 (Monday to Friday, 9am to 5pm) or email chargeanytime@ovo.com.

I hope you find this helpful.

Hi Chris

Thanks for the prompt replay and attached info. Yes I am very excited mainly because the range on the Volvo is pants!

I will follow instructions and hopefully all will be fine.

Cheers

JSYK - I’ve had reports that the owner of the Tesla doesn’t need to match the name on the OVO account - as long as you have the permissions in your Tesla app that are needed to establish the connection, that’s the most important part.

Having the vehicle owner do it will provide the most reliable results though - please make sure to have your Tesla Keycard handy as you may need it to complete the setup.

I use three cars with no issues using my compatible charger
