Ok so this seems to be a problem with Audis after doing some research. I have a project ev charger and after doing through all the options I can’t get the app to charge via the smart charge. So annoying. You connect it to the car, the app says it’s connected you tell it when you want it charged by and it does nothing all night. Even when you press for an urgent charge it doesn’t work. Contacted the support email, not much help to be honest. Anyone sorted this problem out?
I’ve been using OVO charge anytime for quite a while and with current car and on house mains (so no issues there)
Ive moved house, set up a new OVO account and new charge anytime account. The app recognises the car and I can see what charge it has etc on the charge anytime app BUT it won’t fully connect to enable the reduced charge rates.
the car charges no problem but no reduced rates.
im using a pulsar plus wall box. I looked to see if I need to connect the wall box to charge anytime but cant see that this is needed? And if so how I do this.
so frustrating. Tried to contact the helpline but no success
Hey
Sounds like the EV Location settings need an update. Ping an email to chargeanytime@ovoenergy.com letting the team know you’ve moved house - they’ll sort this out for you!
Thanks for the reply
But that’s already done. Closed one account started a new one
The Charge Anytime team probably still need to do some stuff on their end. Have a chat with them, they don’t bite! :)
lol they don’t reply never mind bite
Hi
I’m really sorry for the issues you’ve been experiencing.
I’m going to have our Forum_Support team reach out to you so they can help you further with this. Look out for a private message here soon: https://forum.ovoenergy.com/inbox/overview.
I have an Audi Q4 Etron with an Hive charger. Been using chargeanytime successfully for a couple of weeks.
The Hive charger does not have any schedules added and also does not have the approval function on
This week the car was coming up with an error message about charge fault. Had the same issue with the chargers at work. Thought it was an issue with the car so took it to Audi - they found no faults
Ended up deleting the car from the app and was able to charge but at full cost
Would appreciate any support
Hey
I’m sorry to hear you’ve been facing some issues with charging. We have a dedicated Charge Anytime team to investigate this with you. If you reach out to them at 0330 175 9678 (option 2 existing customers), they can investigate this.
Please let us know how you get on that way so we can ensure we get you back on track.
hey
Disappointed not to have had a response to my email. I did try the telephone option, where the advice was to delete the car from the chargeanytime app.
When I plugged in the charger, the app did not recognise that the car was connected, tried to delete option again. Managed to get a cheap charge although not for the first hour
Tried again last night - again did not recognise car was plugged in. After deleting the car and adding again, app recognised car was plugged in with a charging will start after midnight status. Checked in the morning, car had not charged.
Wife has a tesla - this charges without any issues
This is now getting frustrating
Hi
I’m really sorry to hear about the trouble you’re having with Charge Anytime.
Did you email the charge anytime team at chargeanytime@ovoenergy.com? Let me know, if that’s the case and I can chase the team on that.
We’ve got a couple of other topics on the Forum that may be useful too if you’ve not tried those already:
Still having issues with the Audi Q4
Discovered that the Audi app has a charging schedule on it which has to be turned off
The app still does not recognise that cable is plugged in and ready to charge, even though it shows the car with the current battery level. Only way to get a smart charge is to delete the car and add back
I have sent an email earlier this week asking for support but still not had a response. Also never had a response to my earler email
Hey
Really sorry for the issues you’re having,
I’ll reach out to the team & report back.
Had the same issue when trying earlier this week
Hi
I apologise for the delay in the response.
The team have responding to this saying:
“It seems the issues are actually with the Project EV charger going idle and not offering charge. When plugging the vehicle in at home to charge using Charge Anytime, there is often a brief period of charge whilst we work out the best charging schedule based on your vehicle's state of charge and your ready by time. The charge is often then stopped ready to start again later, which is signposted on the Charge Anytime app's dashboard. Project EV chargers seem to interpret the charge being stopped as a sign that the vehicle won't require further power, so when we tell the vehicle to start charging again based on our schedule it calls for charge from the charger but non is delivered. If you contact Project EV should also be able to update the charger's firmware to the latest version, which has solved the issue for other Charge Anytime customers. Otherwise experimenting with setting a sooner Ready By time so that it charges right away (instead of the charger going idle)”
Hope that helps.
Hello - I have a Hive EV Mini Pro not the Project EV mentioned in the response
Hi
Apologies for the confusion, I’ll double check this with the team and get back to you.
Hi
The team have advised to contact them directly on chargeanytime@ovo.com or by phone on 0330 175 9678 (Option 2) with details of when the issue occurred and what error messages you can see in the app/when it last updated, so they can investigate this further for you.
There was an Audi app update in the last week - car has smart charged twice since then without any issue
Hopefully the issue is sorted now
Thanks to all those that have helped
Hey
Really glad to hear that all seems to be sorted now, thanks for coming back with that update!
Feel free to pop back anytime if you’ve ever got any other questions, or even some hints and tips for other EV users. Thanks again for updating us all!
Good morning,
(edit: just seen the title and it was supposed to say doesn’t!!)
I am incredibly frustrated by the charger setup. I have a 330e and a Project EV charger. I have tried all sorts to get the car to charge on schedule and nothing works. I have to get up in the middle of the night and replug the charger in!
To clarify, I have set a schedule in the OVO app of 00:00 to 07:00 for charging, and a minimum charge 5%. In the car, I have set it to charge immediately.
I plug the car in, and wake up in morning with 5% charge. The car has had its settings changed somehow so it now thinks the car isn’t needed until next Friday at 7PM?! And is now charging on some arbitrary schedule that doesn’t reflect anything I’ve mentioned here. This morning I have just been out to see if the car had charged and the schedule was from something like 14:00 to 19:00.
I did have the BMW app for the car, but I thought that might be messing with the charging and deleted it. But that made no difference.
Please help. I’m regretting buying the car.
Charge Anytime will look at when you want the car charged by and put its own schedule together to take advantage of the greenest slots of energy (it just so happens today -Sunday- that it’s most green during the afternoon).
Any minimum setting on the EV will tell the charger to charge now to that point and then the charge by time setting does the rest.
There are guides available to explain.

Thanks for your response. I had set the car to be ready at 7 AM, but by 6 AM it hadn’t done anything….and it was trying to get the car ready for Friday. I’ll probably drive it before then!
With a compatible EV but not charger, you need the manufacturers app as CA uses a link to be able to control things.

Thank you. I’m battling to get my charger connected, but I’m sure I’ll get there eventually.
