Question

getting a refund?

Need some info, I tried to get a refund on my gas account. I'm in credit by £230 but can only get a refund of £66. The reason is because the rest of my credit is used for direct debit payments is this correct?

I have never been in debt to Ovo and in fact I pay monthly by direct debt and I'm on a fixed term contract with Ovo.

Is there a way to get my money that's in credit?

There are limits to how much credit can be refunded when using the online tool. If you’d like more than it will allow, contact Support.

Also worth noting that being on DD means you’re paying in equal instalments. Just because you have spare credit, doesn’t mean it’s not needed for later bills.

Hey @Bri4life

I’m glad to see a couple of our volunteers have already stopped by with some really helpful advice.

Through the app, you can request up to a maximum of £500 be refunded, making sure there’s still at least one month’s Direct Debit + £5 amount remaining in credit. As they also mentioned, being on a fixed term contract related to the rates you pay per unit price or electric or gas. Your Direct Debit amount may change dependant on your predicted Future Annual Consumption.

I hope this helps.
