Question

P.V. meter has become faulty and has no reading at the 10,000 digit.

IEC 1107 port ? Where is it and how do you get a reading from it Please. Our Landis Gyr E110 meter has become faulty and shows no Digit at the 10,000 space. Consequently we are receiving no payment for one of the sunniest 1/4s ever. I have looked it up and the brochure indicates that if you access the above port you can read the memory and we should be able to get a reading. Can anyone advise Please.

I have tried to ask L&G they won’t come back to me. I have tried several P.V. electricians who similarly don’t seem to know how to do this. The only advise I have found was an Indian you tube which sadly I don’t understand but seemed to show exactly what I need.

Please help, asking on behalf of my nonagenarian father

Hey @Boxalland Farm ,

Oh no, that’s a bit of a snag! The IEC-1107 port can indeed be used to access meter data on that meter type (but is disabled on smart meters), however it requires a meter engineer or meter reader to do so as only they would have the required readers. In some cases, the meter may have to go back to the lab to pull the data that way.

Definitely worth asking OVO for help with that as the team should have a way to figure something out with you.

Thank you so much for coming back to me. Sadly currently OVO are just telling us that they will only pay upto the last reading and then start again from the new meter which would mean that we miss 4 sunny months. They have no suggestions for accessing the information. I have tried to get an answer from Landis Gyr but to no avail. Are there specialist meter readers out there how would I find one? please

I had a feeling that’d happen. It is true - production of the L+G E110 was discontinued around 10 years ago, but the ability to pull data via optical ports is supposed to be standard stuff. However, OVO are the ones who need to fling it onto a lab bench to do that as it’s the only option I can think of.

What a strange world we live in where such defects are our fault. You would think that at least OVO would be kind enough to give an average reading for the quarter.  It keeps reminding me what a cut-throat business the energy sector is and we are helpless pawns even if we have technical knowledge.

Morning @Boxalland Farm and sorry to hear of what’s happened here.

My advice here is to raise a complaint about this, and request that OVO do more as a resolution here. I can’t guarantee what will be offered, as we don’t handle complaints / have access to accounts on the Forum, however this’ll definitely be the best way to go.

The complaints process can be found here - please let us know how you get on.
