Meter: What does the electricity meter record? Is it KW hours?

For electricity, the meter records in kWh (kilowatt hours) directly.

Ā 

For gas, the meter records in either m3 (cubic metres) for metric gas meters or ft3 (cubic feet) for imperial gas meters. In both cases, it’s converted to kWh later by the supplier.
