Smart Meter set to monthly reads- Where does 'daily use' come from?

I do not have a smart meter , I use the app and send in a meter reading monthly.  I can then see how much power I have used that month.  But I am confused as there is a daily use of power used in the current month before I have sent the reading at the end of the month.  How is this  daily  figure arrived at please.

Hi @Jenny23 , you will probably find that there are estimates used, even with your manual readings as their system tries to track daily use. You can check on your account - look at the table below the chart and you’ll find figures. They will be in black indicating estimates. If they are out of line with total actuals, once you send your reading in, they will be adjusted
