Power Move Plus VS Octopus' DFS Scheme

Yes, probably not v financially rewarding. We made £0.09 on the previous PM+. We’re still going to attempt this one. It’s a bit of a challenge🙄. We’re retired so can use electricity at less demanding times.

Yes i will do it anyway. Planned a date with the book im reading, the duvet and a torch! Was hoping for the period to be early morning when people get up and head to work/school etc instead its in the powermove period again.

yep I made 20p on the last PM+ with a 0.2kWh target - I’ll still carry on even though it’s pennies as every little helps.

PLUS the alternative to people cutting energy use is the installation of massive Battery Energy Storage Systems in the field or brownfield site next to you to store energy from the grid produced by solar & wind & release it back when needed...all sounds fine until you look at the data for BESS fires & incidents all over the world (google BESS fires, which is a horrifying read). I’m all for green energy but I don’t want a BESS next to where I live, which is what I’m fighting atm.

Please keep cutting your electricity use!

I’m in for power move but haven’t found how to opt in for plus. If its during the move period I’m stuffed cos I  already go down to 1kw for 4 out of 6 segments with only the fridge on

@Sally123 we will contact eligible households to opt in to Power Move Plus. Here’s the FAQ page which confirms:

Who is eligible for Power Move Plus?

In order to be eligible for Power Move Plus you must meet the following criteria:

• have a communicating electricity smart meter that is a credit meter
• have a smart meter that is single rate (meaning you only pay a single, flat rate for your electricity) or economy-7 
• opt in to half-hourly meter readings (you can opt in to half-hourly readings via your online account)
• have an active email address
• have OVO as your energy provider

The Octopoints are converted into money off the bill - there are lots of ways of getting Octopoints and ‘saving sessions’ is just one of them.

I personally think you are probably better off signing up with one of the 3rd  parties for the Demand Flexibility scheme (OVO Power Move Plus).

There are better offers out there. OVO only paid £1 per kWh in the last session. It doesn't involve switching your electricity.

You can only sign up to one Demand Flexibility scheme.

For example:

Wow, I assume the energy companies get paid the same amount, so why is there such a difference in payout? I know it would still only be pence in my circumstances being a low user.

For some of the sessions all suppliers get the same per kWh.

For other sessions they put in a bid. So what you get will vary.

Suppliers may or may not take a cut of what they are paid before passing on the money to customers to cover their costs. 

With some Suppliers if you donate your savings to a fuel poverty charity they also donate their fee. That is what I do with Hugo.

You do have to read the small print to check and see which scheme is best for you.
