Power Move Flex - Winter Trial

Over the 18 months, Power Move Flex (as part of CrowdFlex) has shifted 864,700 kWh's and paid out over £1.02 million in bill credits.

We've had over 100,000 customers take part over the 3 trials in which Power Move Flex helped match the demand to the power being generated. So homed used cleaner, greener energy.

The trials were aimed at understanding how households can contribute to a greener electricity grid. The learnings we gathered from being part of these trials will be essential for the Electricity System Operator to plan for the future of the electricity grid, and how our customers can play a role in this. Together we've been making energy better for people and the planet. 

 

Our current trials are now closed, and we'd like to thank our users for their participation.

Hi everyone,

 

The first series of Power Move Flex ended in July, and we’re about to start inviting eligible customers to the next series. It’ll run from September 2024 to March 2025.
 

First, we’ll be inviting our eligible Charge Anytime customers to Power Move Flex for Charge Anytime. OVO will optimise your EV charging to help ease the pressure on the grid in times of high or low demand. You’ll earn credit for plugging in more often so that we can charge your EV when the grid is greenest.


Then, in September we’ll start inviting eligible customers to the next series of Power Up events (when there’s low demand on the grid) and Power Down events (when there’s high demand on the grid). Like last time, you’ll earn credit for every kWh of electricity you shift above or below your normal use.

Hi, my Power Move Flex started at the beginning of last week. I only received two power downs and one power up in total from Monday to Friday (I check my emails including the junk file regularly). I thought it would be more frequent than this, at least one power up and one power down per day. Is it going to get more frequent?

It can be somewhat random - some weeks you will get more events than others.

Has anyone received results from Power Move Flex yet? I have received 4 event emails since 08 Oct, but no indication of results via email or the app.

No, not had any results for last week yet.

Only three events last week and only one so far this week, that was on Monday, nothing since. Very little chance of getting anything knocked off our bills at this rate.

 I had an email this afternoon 17/10 with last week’s results.
  
 


I only managed one event (the Power Up on 10 Oct.), for which I earned £0.35. This was achieved simply by lounging around in pyjamas until noon before having my shower and doing the washing at the same time (that was a bad idea: each time the washing machine took water in, I was doused in scalding water). I had hoped to have the cost of the shower (£0.31) reimbursed, so that worked.  

I didn’t know about the 11 Oct. event until after it happened, so the £0.11 reward was ill-gotten.
