Power Move continuing- What do we think?

Looks like Power Move is going to be an ongoing thing, as part of the Path To Zero. Bit disappointed that 100% renewable plans are disappearing especially since there's talk that they may eventually uncouple the price of electricity from the wholesale gas price, which would actually make renewable plans cheaper potentially.

The new Power Move credit though, £10/month, doesn't really seem worth the effort of keeping track of peak time energy use. Had it remained at £20 I'd probably have considered signing up again once available, but with bills of £150/month for using almost nothing £10 reward doesn't feel like a reward, it feels more like a dog treat for being a good boy.

Agreed £10 hardly worth the hassle but if they make it more certain to increase price so they don’t loose out 🥴

I can see your point, though I have quite enjoyed power move. It has saved me money and helped me to examine all my electricity use. I believe I have developed better strategies in general now.
I think the best scheme would be a graduated one: the lower your peak time use, the higher the cash reward.

I  didn’t know about the 100% renewable and share your disappointment.

All that being said, I would still do power move even for £10. At least if I missed (I won’t) it wouldn’t be such a big deal.

I don’t believe that 100% renewable goals are disappearing.
The only thing I’ve seen recently is a move to reduce the offset levels used to alter emission levels. That payment has often been seen as a fudge rather than really reducing.
The other factor about moving energy use out of peak hours is that is the only way to enable much of the reduction in emissions and so any incentive is a bonus. The alternative is a much higher tariff for peak hour use

@GrumpyTrucker  I agree £10 is not enough if anything I think it should be higher than £20 a month then maybe there would be more incentive for people to give it a go, even though I hit the whole 5 months  and found it quite easy I'm not sure if I would bother to much if I didn't hit the target if it was  £10.

Didn't  realise that powermove was being extended at all. Do I have to sign up again or does it just continue? I have made no effort to modify my energy use this month, as I assumed that it had finished.

@chrisloy  no it's not ongoing, from what I understand it will be later in the year again for the colder months

It should be all year round - it encourages people to think about their electricity use.

£150 per month for “using almost nothing”?!  Is that average monthly leccy or average gas+leccy over the year? If it’s just leccy, have I understood correctly that your almost nothing amounts to daily consumption of around 15kWh per day? Not judging or anything (I haven’t said anything about my own usage!!) but UK daily electrical average is a bit less than 15 (I think?).

even so, though, 10 quid would represent around 7% or so per month, not bad, and 15 quid a month for Oct-Dec around 10%, even better.

Ah, my brain has just kicked in: I should think before I open my gob! On reflection of course, for anybody with an EV for instance, or specialised requirements in their household, or indeed a spacious house or busy household, then 15 kWh might indeed seem minimal…apologies anyway, I was just a bit puzzled about the “almost nothing”!

All the best…
