My Nephew is with Octopus and  on Thursday ,Friday and today they have had an energy saving event each day for half an hour from 6.oopm to 6.30pm.

Just wondering why we haven't had any?

Our current trials are now closed, and we'd like to thank our users for their participation.

Hey @Lucky2,

I asked the team for a response on this, they’ve advised:

When ESO trigger a Demand Flexibility Service (DFS) event they request a certain amount of energy from the collective group of DFS Participants (including OVO) and all participants bid into this volume. ESO decide which bids to accept and where OVO is successful in a bid then we notify our customers that a Power Move Plus event is due to take place with an opportunity to opt-in. You can find out more about the ESO's DFS in their guidance here.

Companies now have to ‘bid’ to participate… OVO’s bids (therefore what level they pay to customers) were rejected

That's a shame. Does this mean we will probably not get anymore sessions?

Not sure - there was talk of a minimum number (which we're probably near) but they (National Grid) could add others.
Then it would just depend on how much OVO want to participate. I don’t think they’re quite as set up for this as Octopus are. In fact, for yesterdays event , Octopuses bid was also rejected but they decided to do it anyway

Good to see BPLightlog has some inside information on this. Hopefully OVO will get some more events in the future for energy saving. As we have all noted it is down to the National Grid supply and demand and of course how much our energy provider bids to take part.

I don’t know why we haven’t had any events yet. they usually send it by email to let you sign into the event. sometimes l can’t do it if l am working. or it’s to late to do it.

I’ll ask the team and report back @JNeve 🙂

Does the current Power Move scheme finish at the end of March or does it continue throughout the year?
