Mercedes EQA Charge Anytime issues resolved?

Hi there,

I have just purchased a Mercedes EQA 250+ and considering going with OVO. I see the Mercedes EVs are on a trial still and there had been some issues up till recently. Can anyone confirm if the issues are now resolved and that they will support Anytime charging to avail of the 7 pence rate? Many thanks.

To update all Forum Members who are part of the Mercedes / Beta Pilot:

This is still a pilot, and some issues - like the 50% total charge problem - may take time to resolve. As a result, the Charge Anytime team is unable to provide further updates at this time.

If the limitations you're experiencing outweigh the benefits of the Charge Anytime add-on, we recommend leaving the pilot for now while we work on improving the service.

We’re sorry for any frustration this may cause. Please keep an eye on the Forum for updates - we’ll share any new developments as soon as we have them.

You can exit the Mercedes Beta Pilot at any time by taking the following steps:

  • Open the OVO Charge Anytime app
  • Click on the "Account" tab in the bottom right
  • Click on the User icon in the top left
  • Click the "Delete account" link
  • Select a reason for leaving and click "Continue"
  • Your app account will now be deleted and there will be no further connection or interaction between your car and the OVO system
  • Note: You will still be credited for any smart charging that you have done up to this point

Hi @shah84 , the Mercedes series are still at the trial stage but most things should have been worked through by now - of course, it’s only by testing a whole series of combinations that everything be validated.
If you have a compatible charger of course, any EV is eligible.

Charge Anytime app, still not resolved the issue with charging Mercedes. App still defaulting to 50% max charge, therefore I’ve had the delete app loosing lower rate credit benefit.

When are OVO going to sort this as it’s been going on for ages!

Octopus are looking a better option for cheaper EV charging.

Not a bug - technical limitation due to how Mercedes works.

The 50% limit gets automatically raised to 100% during active charge sessions as it’s the only way OVO can start/stop charging. It’s kludgy, but it’s the best OVO can do until such time Mercedes provides a better method.

You won’t get any better elsewhere either - Mercedes imposes this limit on ALL smart charging setups.

Blastoise186 - I beg to differ there, active charging makes no difference the app continually defaults back to 50% regardless and I have to continually reset every 5-10 minutes which means if I want to take advantage of low rate overnight charging I’d have stay awake all night just to charge my vehicle

I have deleted the app as previously stated and now charging fine. Although at the higher tariff

I never had a problem with my previous Mercedes as it would charge to whatever % set on the vehicle and using the charge anytime app.

As far as your comment regarding other suppliers…… how would you know?

Morning @Tonymuruk and welcome to the OVO Forum. I’ve applied the EV ownership badge to your Forum account.

I can see @Blastoise186 has given you correct advice here. Here’s an article that explains everything in more detail:
